Sims 2 Windows 11?

Hi! Thanks for checking on my progress! No, I have not gotten around to it yet because I'm not home today. I will be home tomorrow, so I'll have to try it then. I have a weird schedule.

Do you think I should backup and re-install my saved game before adding the expansions?

@datboilizzy No keep your save files out of it until you have installed every pack you have and have ran the game to check it loads.

Leave all of your data out of it. When reinstalling my game one time in the past, I added my saves back into the game when I hadn't already loaded it once, and my data in the default Neighbourhoods was wiped. That's because the game when first installed force adds the default Neighbourhoods to your game. If there is already something there under those names, there is a risk it will be replaced.

So keep your files safe and away.

Install everything you have.

Load up the game for the first time. Maybe enter one of the default Neighbourhoods.

Then exit and copy your files back in place.

Please copy, don't move. Always make sure you have a backup. 

@datboilizzy , the easiest way to keep your saved games safe is to simply move your Sims 2 file (found Documents > EA Games > Sims 2) to your Desktop. Do not create shortcuts or copy and paste, actually move the file. This will keep your games safe without having to find a thumb drive or figure out where to save it. 

Hey so I tried the Task Manager method for the Pets disc. I scrolled through thoroughly but couldn't find autorun.exe. There's a file called autochk, however. There's also a file called dvdplay.

Does the correct file have to be autorun.exe, or it won't run? My computer is saying it can't find it.

@datboilizzy hmm thats weird it should be immediately visible. I don't think its in any of the folders. If it's really not anywhere at all, maybe try finding the exe for the expansion pack. I don't know what number EP pets is, but it will be called something like Sims2EPX (with the X being a number. like SimsEP9.exe for example) You should be able to find that file in either tsdata or tsbin, but I don't know if that can be used to install the pack. 

I don't think it would make a difference, but maybe try just opening the disc to view the files inside and see if it's there. Could you take and add some screenshots of the files?

How do you add screenshots in File Explorer?

@datboilizzy you should have a screenshots folder in pictures where they all go. On the reply function here click choose file and go to that folder and you should find your screenshots

When I try to upload a file to this page, it keeps saying "unsupported extension."

@datboilizzy Oh, I'm not sure why. Forget the screenshots then. Did you try finding and using the simsep file? Or eventually better, did you find autorun.exe somewhere?

No, what is the simcep file? I did find a file called simply AutoRun but it won't do anything when I click on it.
