Sims are acting kinda weird

Hello Everyone !

So i been playing the sims 2 for almost 10 years now and recently i got the legacy edition so i could finally play it again but when i play i noticed that the sims are kinda stupid for example  i only controlled one sim for a bit and all the other sims  in my household were only turning on and off the tv on repeat or doing the same with the radio or getting stuck mid actions  or writing down in a diary the whole time , and even the same sim i was controlling while i was making them do interactions the action bar was getting spammed with  actions like " turn on the tv " or " turn on the radio " or " write down in diary  not to mention the fact that their needs bar was completly full and the sims were trying to fill their needs !

so that is what has been happening to me i wonder if its going on to anyone else ? and if it did is there any fix for it ? cause from what i remember from when i was playing the sims 2  complete collection edition the sims werent this stupid .

( Also i am not using any autonomy mods that would probably break the sims autonomy )

  • honestly they are behaving slightly smarter in some ways too from what i remember, i mean for example if theres a toy or bottle on the floor they just walk over it now

  • They've always been this way. They've always also stepped over things on the ground, it was in Sims 3 that suddenly they didn't anymore. Along with opening cabinets to cook, getting in and out of cars... and a myriad of other things they threw out with 3. They do get route fails, but it's usually another Sim or furniture that causes it, sometimes it's uneven ground outside. I installed a no route fail reaction mod so I wouldn't have to see them wave their arms around like idiots when it happens. They simply stop and get a thought bubble about the issue instead.

If you are super annoyed by what your currently controlled Sim is doing, you can turn off free will in Sims 2 just like you can in Sims 4. It's in the gear menu. Can't do anything about the other Sims though, other than check on them regularly and queue up what you'd like them to do. Sims in Sims 2 are more... free spirits than they are in 3 or 4. Left to their own devices they will play video games until they starve to death sometimes.

  • i mean yes they are more smart in some ways including selfcare . but the thing i dont like is that there is some sort of bug that clogs up the autonomy for me like i said when all they do is turn on or turn off the tv or the radio or when they write in diarys the whole time ! and it can be a nightmare if you have a family with many sims ! for an example i was playing with a legacy family i had around 5 people in one family and  one of my sims had a tv in his room and my other sims those werent asleep were going into his room the whole time turning on the tv and turning it off waking him up constantly ! so i dont know if it is a bug that causes this or if its the way the new autonomy has to be .

honestly i hope there is a mod for smarter autonomy cause its not like i cant play the game right now but sometimes its annoying me to the point i shut the game off and dont play for days which is a shame cause i loved playing this game ! and for me  who is playing with familes up to 6 people for most of my gameplay turning off autonomy is not an option !
