This is a major bug! Date and outing invitations can't work with this bug remaining in the game.
This is a long-standing bug that involves a broken timer behavior for date and outing invitations. Sims complain that you stood them up way before they should. This seems to happen more at higher game speeds. Sometimes you don't have enough time to even get to the Taxi.
