DakaTheWanderer This is a known issue, so please check if any antivirus program is flagging the game and preventing it from creating new character files. Also make sure to check that your Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy folder is not on OneDrive. You can run Command Prompt, paste the following command and press Enter to view the location of your Documents folder:
reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

I finally got around to checking lol, the files were going to OneDrive, so I uninstalled it! I don't mind losing the files as I only just started playing again (same with TS4). Fingers crossed it works fine!
