I do think Sims 2 had the best animations between two sims. I LOVE the way the kids dance on parents feet and just in general the movements seem more natural and realistic to me. I completely forgot about kids being able to dance on their parents feet! That was so cute.
And i completely agree with you on the animations :D Sims 2 has some amazing animation
