Divvy's SV Family: Homer Atreus 2025

My current Sunset Valley save's family: Atreus, like the ancient Greek family in Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. However, their names are not in the generational or related order of those classics, just used here and there for fancy. If they are already historical and 3000 years in the past, then I feel its ok for them to expire in a video game ... otherwise it gets too sad. They do get to be ghosts too, and their generations continue on.

Book I

Mother and father are Helen and Dardanus, whom I tried modelling in CAS to look nothing like anyone I know. However they did end up looking a little like a couple of my university crowd.  I made them as mature-aged, so it wouldn't take long for them to become elders and look different, plus make room in the house. Their son Homer was born in CAS with the Play with Genetics button on the Add a Sim drop-up menu, and raised from toddler to adult in the game.

They moved into the starter home called Shotgun Style - a two bedroom, 1 bathroom, flat, furnished house with a pleasant light wood, green and pink colour theme in the open living areas, bathroom and kitchen. It also has a decent sized yard.

It’s opposite the Alvi household and the Sekemoto's because of being on the corner. It's just down the street, or a short walk from the gym, and just a little further to the school.

Dardanus’ Life Time Wish was “Major Master” – to get three degrees at University, which he got. His degrees were Business, Science and Physical Education.

The second time he went to University, because they couldn’t afford both on the first time with no scholarships, Helen went with him for a degree in Fine Arts, because her Life Time Wish was “Celebrated Five-Star Chef” – to reach the top of the Culinary career. I like them to get that for the “Minus 1” fridge reward.

Here they are lining up for their graduation.

To help with getting a scholarship, and for cash in between the University trips, Dardanus got a job from level 1 at the Military Base because it pays the best, and at first, most often. And so, they’ve maintained a few friends and acquaintances from that career.

Here is Dardanus with his final degree.

The scholarships, emptying their university rental house, books and other junk sold, and a few shifts at their work, improved their lot at home. They decided to keep adding to and improving it until they, I, get sick of it.

"My resume got me a nice job at the Science Facility" Dardanus told Helen.

"Just in time for school" said Helen.

Helen threw Homer a birthday party for his growing up into a Child. All of their work colleagues old and new, were invited. Judy Bunch, Gobias, and possibly Miles work at the Science Facility with Dardanus.

And Emma Hatch works at the Diner with Helen, and Molly French. Later in the game, the other colleague got old, retired, and Ethan, or Dustin Bunch (Langerak) took over.

Homer grew up in the sparkles and got given an Into the Future outfit as his child-formal. He went to the stylist later, because another child, Sandi French, turned up wearing it as well. They ended up best friends at school.

Here he is all styled over, as he strutted to his first day of school.

He grew up with the elite inner circle of Sunset Valley children and teens.

In fact, he was witness to Sandi’s new baby sister’s arrival in the library.

His dad Dardanus wasn’t too far away, so he took Molly to the hospital, and the baby girl was partially named after him, Dar.

Later that week, while the snow set in, Homer and his mum Helen were eating Ratatouille dinner. But someone was late getting home.

“Where is your father?” asked Helen, “He didn’t mention anything about after work”

“He went collecting scrap at the junkyard, for building his inventions. I think I’d like to be an engineer when I grow up,” said Homer.

“Why is he focussed on Inventing while he doesn’t need it at work?” asked Helen.

“He wants to make harvesters, so we don’t gain Gardening so quickly during the egg to omni plant challenges.” Homer replied.

Over at Grady’s Junkyard ... Dardanus had detonated a large pile of scrap, successfully, but got singed and then took too long to get around in the snow to collect it all ...

Who should come by and save him? Sandi French who happened to be in the cabin, with a hair dryer.

“Thank you Sandi, you saved my life” croaked Dardanus between his chattering teeth.

“Can I have some extra rocks and seeds when the school comes to the Science Facility?” she asked.

He arrived home, to where it had been raised onto foundations and been given a small carport. And one of the gifts from their friends either at university or of their secret admirers in the mail, a fancy potted square hedge was displayed on the porch.

After buying and using a great bath from The Store, he realised Homer as fast asleep in his cute bedroom. The selfie of himself and his wife Helen hung in the kitchen, and someone, probably Homer had gotten a portion of dinner out for him.

Dardanus detonated salvaged items in his own backyard when things warmed up a bit. The neighbours, and the fiery came to see, while he ran around collecting up the scrap.

The worst or best depending how one views it, was when he detonated the big scrap pile at the junkyard, causing the biggest explosion nobody never did see.

This is what it looked like after the dust settled.

It was a big job collecting the scrap, and the salvageable items, which was almost everything.

Which he tried to hide in his yard, and we felt rather guilty. Even though the Junkyard still works, Dardanus promised one day he or his family would buy it and restore it.

The next day he disposed of it all, and they did this evaporating thing.

***

Gunther Goth got old. He always seems to do so quickly. Or maybe we're just too absorbed in our own game that we forget to watch him progress.

Shortly after is when Dardanus built a time machine because with all of the Inventing he rolled a wish to do so, and to travel either into the future or past. I thought it would be harmless like the Miner, but this little child sim appeared, genetically Dardanus’ but not Helen’s. I could have not saved and played without her existence, but I thought it was interesting, and it might be bad karma or something.

The game told me Dardanus witnessed a couple arguing and that he went to give advice to them to try to help. There was no cheater reputation or angry relationship panel from Helen. There's no ex girlfriend or mystery acquaintance in his relationship panels either. It is a mystery who the mother was. The game has never said.

The game named her Hilda, which I kept. She went straight over to the soccer game that Homer won with his Festival tickets. One of her traits is Athletic as is Dardanus.

While she played, her new bedroom was built.

Plus a hallway and a second bathroom. Homer's bedroom was given a half-more mature look.

Stay tuned, there is more.

Looks like it all has to go below as replies of 10 or less ...

    II. 1

As he was shown on What Happened in Your Game Today, Homer graduated and came home from the Dribbledine Sports Academy boarding school high school in the middle of the night. His proud, dear old mum, Helen got up and painted his portrait, in his bedroom, before he could change out of his cap and gown to go to sleep.

"Aw, and there's his father's brows" she sung to herself. She still had her beauty mask on. His father, Dardanus was still around though.

She was still at it by morning, but Homer didn't wait to see it finished.

"I'm going out" he said, after eating his favourite, spaghetti, which she made for him for breakfast, or rather, heated up some already prepared still leftover in the fridge, perfectly because she was a 5-star Chef level 10 Culinary Career sim.

"Aw, where're you going? I'm nearly finished!" she called out.

Why, out to take advantage of the default outfit he got, for everyday, so he could snapple up that woman he'd had his mind on, that's where!

As he pulled out of the driveway in his pinky-purple La Matea, he thought to himself that "Our house has come along, since it's 'Shotgun' starter across the road from the Alvi's that it was ... ", which was a nice way to have put it. He had vague memories of it being almost empty when his parents were studying.

He kept thinking about that spaghetti, probably cooked up in that diner he passed. To walk up the path to where a certain worker from there lived!

    His favourite sandwich maker.

And she liked how he'd turned out. Lucky her. She only had 9 days until she'd be old.

She invited him in, and he surprised her with some lovely pink flowers.

Cycl0ne Sw0rd, who also lived there, watched on as he left for the office, smirking. As did she.

    A generation progressing ...

Dardanus helped Hilda with her soccer-athletic while Helen gardened. They had time to devote to her skills with Homer away.

Their house had developed some more, especially the yard.

There were stairs down to a basement at the end of the carport, next to the hopscotch, which were semi-circled by a short hedge ... ooh what was down there?

Another hedge, taller, lined the intersecting street and partially between the little park, sheltering the pergola-spa-sauna-martial arts area, Stone's Throw Quick-gro, and soccer, and a bunch of trees obscured the fire-pit, miner, time-machine and portal. They kept the boxed hedge someone gifted them on the porch. The roof was too difficult to neaten up yet.

Dardanus didn’t end up with a Mad Scientist hairdo for his top Scientist career level. Although, it would be somewhat incorrect to call it that currently.

Luckily he had nice hair for his formal wear, which they wore for birthday parties because the growing up outfit was usually not as bad as the everyday. Hilda was going to grow up into a Teen.

She spun in the sparkles ...

In the company of some second generation guests, including Alto, Goth (Mortimer and new brother Jeb) and Andrews and a couple of their known parents: Yumi Sekemoto and Jamie Jolina.

She grew up looking mostly like Dardanus, but with different more bulgy and heavily-lidded eyes ... who in the world would her mother have been?

    Dardanus wouldn’t tell.

The prom was scheduled very soon, so she got onto sussing out a partner straight away. Jeb was not interested.

Master Alto seemed nice and interested.

Chauncey Landgraab already had a partner, the Ursine daughter, and Hilda had coffee breath. Master Alto (whose name escapes at the moment), wondered about it, while he showed some interesting eyes, And started the chain of “Great Party” heading homes cues.

Hilda was very excited to go to prom but didn’t have a partner. The game paired her up with Kane Langeraak. We didn’t like him much, mostly his name. I should've fixed the tile on the fireplace. Hmm.

Within a couple of nights or maybe it was the same night, Homer grew up, graduated boarding school high school, Dribbledine Sports Academy, and came home.

The short snippet of his arrival and immediate courtship of Emma Hatch was posted on “What Happened in Your Game Today” a while ago. However, I will repeat it to begin the next installment.

    Stay tuned for that.

They extended out the yard side of the living area in a hexagonal shape, big enough for the disco floor and lights, a cake table, and a Foosball table, purple, and with a few floor to ceiling windows to show off the flourishing backyard. Homer was missing, because he was at boarding school.

It was easier to gather guests by “calling over to dance” each of them as they arrived.

Some of the guests were: Sam Sekemoto, Ethan Bunch – could be Dustin Langeraak, Mortimer Goth, Molly French as an elder, Jarred Frio, River McIrish, Emma Hatch, Gobias Koffi, Christopher Steel, the boy born at the start of the game from the Alto family, and Holly Alto in an unfortunate Into the Future outfit, which she seemed to think so.

When enough of them had gathered, it was time ...

Helen and Dardanus made a wish at each of their birthday cakes.

    Helen sparkled first ....

Into some unfortunate shorts, otherwise ok. She turned to hear something pop.

“What was that?” Dardanus gasped, as he sparkled and his back creaked ... the pop was just a party clacker.

Dardanus grew into an elder, not too shabby, maybe. Boyd Wainwright was glad for his colleague having made it into the club. And Holly had changed into something else. Maybe the other was swimwear.

This is where we checked out Emma Hatch, who was still single and may not have gotten old before Homer returned.

That night Dardanus and Helen enjoyed their hot pink bedroom. Dardanus dyed his hair back to black, but Helen accepted her greys.

They bought a great new hot pink wardrobe, but were disappointed it didn’t have an extra feature, as wardrobes used to in The Sims 2 ...

Back at home, prom was coming up for Homer, which he did want to go to before he would off to boarding school until he would grow up into an adult.

He continued his friendship with Darlene, and it seemed as though she was his fan.

“You keep wearing my favourite colour” Homer admired her, half complaining.

“No, the other day it was more like mauve and dusty plum, and today I’m wearing ... fandango” she quipped, wryly.

Kaylynn Langeraak tried visiting, rather late at night, and Homer was friends with her, however if she had romantic intentions, she was already involved with Miraj Alvi, and he was also Homer’s friend.

He worked on his Martial Arts, which automatically gave him spectacles as a Martial Arts outfit accessory, through no choice of my own. Interesting.

And he visited Bella Bachelor. They were good friends. It seemed though, that she was interested in his life, as an active sim, but not his heart as much as someone else.

None of his female teen sim friends were matched up with him at his prom. A random generic, townie female sim was instead. This was possibly why, and also the bottleneck-causing doors at the school which made everything messy and difficult, there doesn’t seem to be any pictures kept of it. Nor of when he left for boarding school: Dribbledine Sports Academy.

Dardanus reached the top of the Science career. He was very pleased with himself. He would have a cool uniform, the same as a surgeon albeit, but also a wild hairdo, experimenting capabilities, and the family were going to be earning some great money.

Helen also reached the top of her career, which was her Life Time Want. Her bonus pay, $7000 hung around in the air while she thought about it.

In her new uniform she looked like "Miss Maud". She and Dardanus improved the house, especially in preparation for a big party.

At breakfast, while they were all together, Helen made her new step-daughter perfect French toast, as it is her favourite. “I’ll make your favourite, spaghetti tonight” she promised Homer.

That afternoon Homer had a ballet recital. I don’t know if Sim-Scouts improves athletic, but it would make sense if ballet did. He passed Darlene, who used to be his friend when she was still a child.

After that it was a good time to grow up. They had a party with a disco floor and lights. Bella Bachelor was astounded at Homer’s stretch!

He grew up into a Teen with a generous shirt and a futuristic hairstyle.

Jarred Frio, colleague of Helen arrived with his rockabilly hairstyle from the past, and a plate of ... chips and dip?

Homer picked his LTW straight away, to be a Seasoned Traveler, which is worth 60,000 happiness points! So they all started on that for him straight away with a trip to France, instead of La Simla China because it was someone’s daily wish, and possibly a work task. Recipe probably. Dardanus thought about all of the French crawfish his top chef wife could cook up into Lobster Thermidore.

Then Al Simhara. By the way, Homer’s favourite colour is purple.

Then La Simla China, gaining 1 or nearly 2 Visa levels at each. Only Homer. The others ran around and helped to collect things, disarmed traps, pushed statues and the like. Hilda took advantage of the time with her new parents and improved her skills.

When they would all return home after the third, separate destination, there was to be a school dance for Homer to work towards, and then would prepare for boarding school - the household would be easier and not as laggy while Hilda had her turn ...
