I set each Season to 28 days and the Moon Cycle to 10 days.
Right away, I had a visit from the mascot and a time portal appeared on the lot. I sold the basket and portal immediately, then set up the tent. Since this was my first 112-day challenge, I spent some time using buy mode to move things around, because my Sim was having trouble leaving the lot to go to work or to drive to a community lot. Eventually, I found a layout that worked. I then created another 10x10 lot next door and copied the layout to the new lot.
I saved this newly created lot as a 112-Day Challenge Starter Lot with the following description: This lot is set up specifically for the 112-Day Challenge. It is 10x10 and has an outhouse, small parking space and vehicle, mailbox and trashcan, tent, and burn pit.
This is the final layout that was saved to my library and shared in my Exports folder.
The lot was originally created in Alryne Valley with a dozen empty homes and no residents, so I had to add some from my bin to populate the town. I will likely use Sunset Valley for future challenges.
So far in this challenge:
Lane was abducted by aliens and had a daughter named Anastasia Douglas. He sent the little one back to the alien that abducted him.
Unexpected weight gain.
Lane's home lot was completely destroyed by a meteor strike.
I was forced to go into build mode and buy mode to recreate the entire lot from scratch. I had to sell everything, level the lot, and rebuy all of the items for the lot to get rid of the filthy surroundings moodlet. I even deleted the trash can and the mailbox and added them back to the lot using buydebug. I also replanted the garden using buydebug (lettuce, life plant, 7 red berry beans, and an apple tree. The replacements were of normal quality, while the destroyed plants were almost all of perfect quality. It was at the end of fall, so the garden wouldn't be producing anything until spring anyway.
Despite these mishaps, Lane has survived Summer and Fall and is one week into Winter.
My Sim chose the Education career and reached the top before winter. Since he only works 3 days per week and earns about 1,700 per day, I chose to have him continue his job to accumulate more wealth. He spends his hours at work giving lectures and has lectured on his days off, including occasional weekends.
He is now District Superintendant, having reached the top of his Education career.
Lane has reached the following levels for his skills:
Gardening - 10
Fishing - 10
Cooking - 10
Handiness - 9
Charisma - 10
Logic - 10
Athletic - 6
Social Networking - 3
Writing - 1
Collecting and Gardening:
Aside from his Education career, to earn money, Lane has been growing red berry beans. He has also been collecting gems, metals, and space rocks using the Collection Helper. He has captured some insects and creatures as well as picked some flowers. He was fortunate in that he collected two life fruit seeds on his first outing to the graveyard. The rest of his garden was life fruit and edible plants (lettuce, potatoes, grapes, and apples).
