Ambrosia:
It may be overkill, but Lane had harvested 7 perfect life fruit and caught 7 normal deathfish. Lane was one day away from Elder when I had him make and eat the Ambrosia. Having not used Ambrosia before, I discovered that it is not like the Young Again potion which returns a Sim to the first day of young adulthood. I used up two servings of Ambrosia to discover this. My goal is to return my Sims to young adult, so I had to use Nraas CAS to change Lane back to young adult, and then change the lifespan to epic to prevent him from aging to adult during the challenge.
Having failed to do the math in my head, I realized that Lane would have died after 59 days at the normal life expectancy, far short of the 112 days of the challenge. I had to rethink the logistics of the lifespan for this challenge.
I had a makeshift kitchen set up (2 counters, a sink, a stove, and a refrigerator for making the Ambrosia. I placed the remaining five life fruit and deathfish in the fridge. However, Lane discovered the ingredients and autonomously made and ate another plate of Ambrosia! I put the ingredients in his inventory. Unfortunately, the option to make Ambrosia was still available on the refrigerator and stove. I finally put a small wicker chest next to the sink and stored the Ambrosia ingredients and the death flowers there for safekeeping until the end of the challenge.
Lane has completed 80 hours of Community Service:
Cleanup - 5 hours (from clearing his home lot after the meteor strike)
Raking - 59 hours (in the community garden, the graveyard, the library, and the elixir shop)
Tutor - 14 hours (tutored each child for 2 to 4 hours each)
Train - 2 hours (reached Athletic level 6 and trained one individual)
Investments:
Lane invested in and eventually purchased the grocery store, the bookstore, the bistro, the theater, the hospital, the diner, and the coffeehouse. At the end of the challenge, he will liquidate all of his holdings. On day one of the second week of winter, his worth is nearly 400,000 Simoleons.
Lifetime Reward Points:
Lane used Lifetime Rewards to purchase Simmunity (7,500), and the Collection Helper (40,000). He sends the metals to be smelted and uses the gem-cutting machine at the elixir store to cut the gems. He managed to find two Tiberium gems during the challenge which added about 80,000 to his bank account after allowing them to mature in the yard. I'm surprised I found room for them to mature.
So far, Lane has earned over 100,000 LTR points. This is the most difficult part of the challenge. I find the Lifetime Rewards to be confusing, and the use of some (like the collection helper) seems like cheating. I hesitate to add no bills ever since my Sim will clearly be able to afford to pay his bills when they come due.
In order to get rid of his diploma, I built a temporary one-wide wall to hang the diploma and then deleted the wall. He was able to sell all of the rest of his certificates for 3,400 Simoleons.
