Part 1 - CAS (198-200)

For part one of the bicentennial challenge, you will create a sim or simself to represent you at the Bicentennial Blitz party that will be held following Part 2 of the challenge. This will be a red carpet event, so make sure your sim is dressed-to-impress! If you already have a simself, feel free to use it. Just link to it in the thread. (Make sure it has appropriate formal wear for the party!) This part of the challenge will not be judged. The second part of the challenge, the judged portion, will be released this weekend. Even if you're not sure you'll be able to participate in the building portion of the challenge, please create a sim so that you can be represented at the party!

Part 2 - The Build (198-200)

For part two of the bicentennial challenge, you will create a lavish, red-carpet worthy party space from an existing game warehouse layout! You must use Drea's Salon and Tattoo from Twinbrook (1144 Lakefront Drive). If you don't have Supernatural, you can download the property HERE. It's a 20x30 space but can be moved to a 30x30 lot for the challenge.

The existing exterior of the space should remain the same (i.e. the warehouse look of the lot), but you can add decorative features and textures. You can change the brick texture as long as it is for another brick texture.

Requirements:
You cannot change the exterior layout of the walls. All existing exterior walls must remain in place.
You can add/change interior walls, windows, and doors.
Exterior should retain the "converted warehouse" look, although you can exchange the current siding for a similar one.
You must have a "step and repeat" red carpet area outside as well as a valet/parking area.
Inside needs at least two separate bar areas and at least one food area.
Bathroom facilities are required.
Need at least one outdoor patio/deck seating area.
Should have a "VIP" party area.
As much as possible, decorate your party space with the Build-n-Share Bicentennial Party in mind - this will be part of your score.

Build-n-Share Challenge #201-202 • The White Box Challenge II

This challenge was inspired by HGTV's Design Star. For those that follow this series, each season, there's a "white box challenge" that all of the designers have to compete in. Basically, this is the same thing. I took "Minihaus" from 53 Maywood Lane in Sunset Valley, removed a few items, and changed everything to white.

Your challenge is to CAS it up! Show off your sense of style! This is how you would want to design it if you had to live there. You may add items to the rooms, but all existing objects must remain in the house. You can re-arrange items withing the existing rooms, however, you like.

Some notes:
Your budget is not to exceed 80k simoleans.
You MUST reuse every single object already in the house.
Don't forget the exterior.
When you take screenshots, make sure to take clear screenshots of your interior rooms.
No walls can be added or removed, but you can move around windows and doors if you would like.

Build-n-Share Challenge #203-204 • All According to Plan III

This week's challenge is going to be nice and simple since the 4th of July holiday is coming up for those of us in the US, and many may have guests or be traveling around that time.

Many of us like to get inspiration from house plan sites. It's a good way to practice building. This week, I have found a plan and should you choose to accept this challenge, your task is to replicate the plan below as best as you can.

Since everyone has the same floorplan to work off of, the challenge here really is to see how creative you can be with your exterior design as well as establishing a unique style that will make your house stand out from everyone else's. Roofing is going to be important along with adding some interesting architectural details. Not only should your interiors be impeccable, your house should have plenty of curb appeal and gorgeous/appropriate landscaping.

Some notes:
* You have a budget of 88,000 simoleans to work with.
* The house should be built on a lot no larger than 30x30.
* The house scale should be somewhat proportionate. This isn't a large house, so please pay attention to room sizes.
* You can choose to ignore the closets if you like since closets aren't needed in sim houses.
* No rooms should be added to the house; however, you can make the back porch larger and change its size/shape if you would like.
* You may also build a garage or carport, but it cannot be connected to the house.
* When submitting your media, please make sure to have at least 1 screenshot of the overall floorplan as following the floorplan will be part of judging.

This Week’s Challenge Specifics:

Well, they say the first step to getting help is admitting that you have a problem. Soooo... I have a problem. A Candy Crush Saga problem to be exact. I'm addicted to crushing those sparkly, yummy candies. There are thousands like me who suffer from the same problem. Perhaps you do, too...

But even if you don't suffer from Candy Crush addiction, you might still enjoy this week's challenge: create a small, sugary-sweet cottage inspired by Candy Crush.

First, pick a candy-coated inspiration picture to share with us, then channel your inner Hansel and/or Gretel to design a home based on that pic that makes will make your tooth hurt just looking at it The KP (Katy Perry) SP can help in this challenge, but it's certainly not required (I don't have it and never will!).

Some notes:
* I'm currently on level 75 in Candy Crush, so you will have a budget of 75,000 simoleans to work with.
* The house should be built on a lot no larger than 20x20 (can be smaller).

Rose bustles into your office and you have to blink several times. She ius wearing the most lurid tropical shirt you have ever seen. She bustles along handing you a very thick file. 

"You look very....colorful today!" you state. Rose just giggles. "The newest clients will be here and I wanted to look nice for them!" 

"Oh, they are here!" She bustles from the office at the speed of sound. 

Within a minute she is ushering in two young men. You have glanced at their folder and know a little about them. 

"Hello!" The tall blonde one says while extending his hand. "I am Kip Kowabunga!" You notice a glint of rebel in those green eyes. 

You really hope this is not going to be trouble. "This is Tenn Hanger!" He indicates the other man beside him. The dark haired and eyed young man gives you a nod. 

"What can we do for you gentlemen?" You ask as they settle into chairs. 

Kip takes the lead. "We are looking for a beach house. Something a bit radical. We do not want cookie-cutter." We can do radical you say. Kip laughs at your words. "We are looking for bright and a bit modern but nothing too streamlined. Maybe mix modern and traditional but above all we are looking for color and texture in our home." 

Tenn then adds his say. " We need three bedrooms- two with double beds, three full bathrooms, decks, a pool and/or hot tub, a gym, a study and a family/media room." Kip nods his agreement. "We would also like our favorite colors used within the home. "My favorite color is red and Tenn's is aqua!" 

"What kind of budget are you looking at for this build?" You make notes as you ask the question. 

"We are champion surfers and windsurfers so we have saved $111,000 from our winnings to use." Tenn looks at Kip with a smile. 

"I think we can get you a radical beach house for that amount!" 

You smile to yourself as the two young men leave your office. You wonder what have you gotten yourself into with these two.

As you look over the file in front of you, Rose returns to your table with a double tall skinny latte for you and a cup of chai tea for herself. Jitters, the new coffee bar in town, is literally buzzing with business.

"It's nice to get out of the office for a change," Rose remarks.

"Definitely," you agree. "Two o'clock is our meeting time, right?"

"Yes," Rose confirms. She glances at her watch. "They should be here just any second now..."

Just then, she catches sight of two men who appear to be in their late 50's coming through the entrance and rushes over to greet them. Showing them to the table, Rose introduces Neil and Chris to you. You all shake hands and exchange kisses on the cheeks. Rose rushes off to the counter to order coffee for the pair as you and the clients sit down at the table.

"Welcome to Sunset Valley," you exclaim. "I hear you're from across the pond."

Neil and Chris nod and laugh. "That we are, luv," Neil agrees in a charming English accent. "We've just finally gotten settled into our new flat, and are ready to launch our latest business venture - a pet shop."

"It sounds interesting," you enthuse. "Do you mind me asking you a bit of a personal question though?" you venture cautiously.

"Not at all," Chris replies. "What did you want to know?"

"Well, you gentlemen look more like you're closer to retirement than to starting a new business. No offense, of course... I'm just curious why a pet store and why at this stage in your lives?"

"Well, missy, you don't beat around the bush do you?" Chris quips, but there is laughter in his eyes, putting you at ease.

"We've been on the road for the better part of 30 years, luv," Neil interjects with a smile. "We've had a great career and enjoyed success and even a little fame. But, that life can wear on a body. We're thrilled to finally have a job with regular hours and a bit of stability to take us into our "Golden Years" as it were."

"We're both animal lovers," Chris adds, "and with a life on the road, I'm sure you can understand why we haven't been able to have pets in our lives for many years. Not to mention, Sunset Valley doesn't have a pet shop, so it seems like the perfect fit for us."

"Well, that makes perfect sense," you assure your clients. "What can I do to help make your dream a reality?"

Rose returns with coffee for Neil and Chris, and the four of you set down to the business of planning a charming pet store that will be just perfect for Sunset Valley.

As Rose walks in handing you a fruit smoothie with a smile she looks at you and asks, " I feel so sorry for our next client. He just looks so lonely." You have to agree as you take a sip.

"He will be here soon," you comment. Rose bustles out to make sure to greet your new client with a fruit juice.

As the door opens you notice a young man in his thirties with a slightly pinched and scared appearance. He has brown hair and glasses that are hiding his eyes. "Hello," you comment.

"Hi," he shyly responds.

"How may we help you today, Aaron?" You smile in hopes of setting Aaron Delontes at ease. He smiles and takes the seat you offer at your desk.

"I have worked since I was a teen and have not had time for a life outside of work. I am lonely and hope to find someone to share my life with and maybe have a family. But first I need a home for myself to offer to someone. I hear you are the best and can help me at a fast paced rate?" He comments.

You smile to yourself before saying, " Of course. What type of home are you looking for?"

"A cottage with a lovely garden!", he states. " At least three bedrooms and two and-a-half baths. Also a pool, and a television area, and a den."

"I think we can get that for you.", you respond. "What type of budget do you have for this build?"

"I have a budget of $90,000 for the build and I want a small to medium sized lot if possible.", he responds.

You nod your head and begin to ask him more questions to get a better detail of his request. He is full of ideas and details that will help you in your building of his new home.

As he heads out the door with a sad smile, you hope you can get this home built for him. Maybe, just maybe, you know a few individuals too that might make a nice date for Mr. Delontes.

Build Requirements:

-30 X 20 or 30 X 30 sized lot.
-Three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. 1 master suite and a bath is a must. 1 bedroom must be a nursery with two cribs at least.

Rose opens your door with a smile, "Are we ready for today?" 

She gives you an intense stare as she asks. 

"Your first appointment is ready" States Rose as she hands you a folder for you to glance through. 

She ducks her head out the door and is back suddenly motioning in a scared looking young couple. You notice the young woman is very pregnant and is having trouble getting around. The young man quickly pulls out the chair for her to settle into. 

"Hello I am Laynard MacVey and this is my wife Sachii", he states with a timid smile. "We are here looking for a home and we hope you can help us!" 

"I think we can assist you", you say! "Why don't you tell me what you are looking for in a home and we can start there." 

"Okay! we are looking for a smaller home with two bedrooms. One for us and one for our new addition", he smiles. 

"I want a small garden too", pipes in Sachii. "I love to garden so just something small for after the baby gets here." 

As you continue to talk, you learn about what the young couple need and want and what budget they have. This will be a challenge but you think you can do it. 

"I think I have all the info I need so we will get started right away and have you something to live in in two weeks", you say with a smile as they stand and head out the door.

"Your new client is here and she is a bit unexpected", laughs Rose as she brings you your morning tea. "Just wait and see!"

You look at her with a quizzical glance. She just laughs and exits the door with a huge grin. You here her talking to someone as she opens your door to allow your newest client entry.
You have to smother down your shock at the woman in front of you. She looks like a mix up of several decades. The pale skin and ruby red lips contrast with the black raven hair. Her clothing is a mix of several decades but she wears them well for her young age.

"Miss Heirloom, I presume?", you ask. She greets you with a knowing smile.

"Yes I am,", she extends her hand. "I have heard great things from your firm and I do hope you can help me in my request."

You nod your head and show her to a seat at your desk. "I am sure we can help you . What are you looking for Miss Heirloom?"

"Call me Strawberry. I am looking for a home to display my antiques that I have collected over the years. I have many wonderful pieces of furniture and art from the Victorian period on. I need a larger home to put all my things on display. They need to be shown and loved not stored.
