First off I like your intro to this thread, you give a lot of very well organized info with a bunch of much needed links but please I mean no offence to Magician1 and MerryWiddow or to anyone else that’s posting here, but I wonder why do we need two threads like this for builders?
I’ve scanned through a few pages of posts and I see the same members that post on the other thread and I see many of the same photos, to me it seems like a place to double post everything.
Now I recognize that the other thread is going on 550 pages and some new builders might be turned off by posting on a thread that’s that long and has so many good builders on it but I’ve never seen anything but good praise from everyone there, just as I see the same here.
I realize that there’s a pride in ownership aspect to starting a successful long lived thread especially if you plan to be the primary person responsible for reviews but it seems to me that you do a stand up job already on the other thread.
As it stands right now this thread and the other I speak of are the only threads I have bookmarked and I applaud you for taking such an active role in the builders’ community, but I just wonder why we need two threads that cover the same ground.
Anyway this is not a Criticism just a question.
Hi there
Thank you for the visit.
To answer your Question about having 2 of the 'same' threads is actually quite easy. We are in no way competition to each other and I (Magician1) thought about how I got where I am today as a builder/creator.
I learned the hard way and often just wanted to stop uploading my Builds as they were never 'right'.
Well here I am 4 months later with a featured lot and a lot of guts got me here. How many Novice and Intermediate Builders will carry on building if they don't get help to know what is the 'right' way?
As I think you must've noticed we have 'Homework. here. Purely to help the people and ourselves to see how different everybody interprets the same House. We Download every house that is put up on the thread, play it in the game with a Sim and and make comments after doing this.
I don't think that any other Builders Thread do this! The comments are made on what a piture or two are showing. Not, 'How does this house Play? Is my Sim Happy in the house? Does everything work in the house? etc.'
You may be saying 'Yes, you are downloading the houses now and playing them because you have the time cause your's are still a small Thread! But what's going to happen when you have more people and more lots to download? The answer to that is: Then we get more experienced Builders to, as we have already visiting us to assist.
I know which thread you are talking about, as myself and MerryWiddow are still active on that Thread. My question is , How much can 1 person look at in 1 day and reply with comments?
Novice and Beginner Builders do feel threatened by the Thread and the Critique they get, even here. We try and be as polite and Descent as possible in our way of trying to help. Look at our Logo:
" Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man's growth without destroying his roots." Frank A. Clark
That clearly states how we plan to do things and I, Merrywiddow and whomever needs to come and help in the future, will try our best to nourish the growth and not destroy the roots.
Thank You again for the visit and if you feel that we can assist you in Anyway. Please feel free to ask our help/advice or whatever it is you need.
Thank You on behalf of the Builders 101 Team.
