mermaids have no tails

Yep that is the exact issue I have. Mia azul(now a sim in my household) and Salty Seaworth both had tails the first time I met them but didn't after an in-game week or so. Triton King never had a tail in my game. They swim underwater as if they have tails(their legs are close together and move in unison like the tail animation but the tail isn't visible. I also have the issue that a previous poster mentioned that the mermaid swims like a normal mermaid above water for one leap but they starts swimming like a normal sims immediately after that.

At first I thought it was Twallans SP mod pushing the NPC mermaids to switch outfits or some other mod causing an issue but I removed all my mods reset all sims after removing the mods and even moved my sims out and back in from edit town and my mermaid still has no tail.

Ok this is weird my mermaid Mia Marino(formerly Mia Azul) met a new mermaid(I assume he is the NPC the game generated to replaced her after she joined my family) named Goody Coins and he has a tail so far.

I wonder what causes this issue.

The only thing I've noticed is that my elder mermaid sims do not have tails?? is this suppose to happen?

Ive got a couple of mermaid families and I havent had this problem (yet)
they all still have their tails

It happened in my games too :( I would like to bet that it has something to do with aging up. My mermaids were ok until my current sim aged up to an adult, shortly after that the mermaids that were already in the game didn't have tails any longer, although swam as if they did. I noticed the younger ones did have tails (like the Vidal boys - obviously turned into mermaids - and other new mermaids did have their tails also) I'll bet they lose them when they age up too.

I had same trouble, and was about to freak out. I looked it up in this forum and got the answer to use the code: resetsim(name). It worked beautifully. :wink:

Also you can try taking them to CAS via the mirror and "changing scales color". This has reportedly fixed an issue of the mermaid not swimming.

I purchased mermadic kelp from Lifetime Happiness. My sim is a Normal Sim.
I eat it and no transformation. It says I'm a mermaid, no scales, no tail.
What is going on?

I've been fixing the Npcs one by one, when I find them swimming, using Nraas Master Controller. I've noticed when I check the sim under Nraas MC basic/outfits, they're missing their special outfit so I figured out how to restore them. This works for me, hope it helps someone. Instructions:

Bring up the Nraas master controller menu on the effected merperson. Under basic, choose change scale color. Change it if you want to but if not, just click the checkbox. This should return the 'special outfit' to the list of possible outfits. Go back to Nraas MC, Basic, then outfits. Choose the outfit 'Special 1'. This should put their tails on properly. They won't swim correctly right away. They'd have to leave and return to the water. But the tail will be back.

Edit: I think you can probably do this on shore too. Just set their outfit back to casual (or whatever they were wearing) when you're done.
