It seems as though every time any sim passes away (there's a lot of them in my world. >:) ) I have to check the community graveyard as well as my Sims' family graveyard. And invariably there's a few community sims there that end up getting placed at the "family graveyard" mausoleum. Is there anyway through NRAAS to be able to restrict those being placed within the family mausoleum to be ONLY active family members? Or does the game just interpret them as no-longer a part of the family, but still retaining family tree connections and lump them in with every other sim that dies? Every time there's a rash of deaths...well...my sim has to go to the family mausoleum and clear out ALL the community dead and shove them in the community graveyard mausoleum. A grim task, but well...has to be done, unless there's a way with NRAAS to make it so that only active family who have died end up in the private graveyard.

Can you not just bury the sims you want on privately owned land without all of the trappings of a formal Mausoleum or does something get goofed up by doing it that way?I've kind of done that. I just made a private graveyard at the back of their main property and placed gravestones of deceased family sims there. There were no issues with that, although I don't know if there are perks you'd get with a mausoleum. My dead sims are either in the yard and visit as they choose, or I ignore them entirely, so I may be missing out on something. You could build something like a little mausoleum if you wanted to have that, although it wouldn't have any rabbithole functions - or any uninvited dead sims either.

@suzses That might be a terrific idea. I was using the Specter...mausoleum and that's probably why I'm getting townie sims.

I don't like keeping headstones on my sims' family lot, so I made a family graveyard on a separate lot once. It was before our sims could own more than one lot, so they didn't own it, and it was a community lot. But it had no mausoleum, so only my own sims' headstones were placed there. I think that now that our sims can own more than one lot, if I make another family graveyard in the future, I'll have them buy a second, vacant residential lot for it.

Besides the second lot having to be a community lot in the past, the Mausoleum itself triggers all kinds of reactions and beacons to the inactive population. It also hosts a part time career, which it sounds like is just not wanted here. One could use NRaas SP and GoHere to restrict general usage and pushes to the lot to one or two households, but I'm not sure that would prevent the lot from still being used as an automatic holding container for the recently deceased if a real Mausoleum were present on it.

Private Graveyard - How to have only your active family who have died be buried there?

Well does your Sim's family actually own the graveyard lot? I seem to remember that cut down on random sims getting buried there, but it's been a while since I played SIms 3.

Yup, they own it. They've upgraded it to two stars...still not sure how to get the third star, but still finding a lot of community sims being placed there.

This isn't within my area of expertise, but owning a community lot like that means that your sims are in charge of the place more or less. It doesn't make it private property any more than owning a swimming club makes it so that no one else can use it. Although there are ways to be more restrictive in that case, maybe a better example would be owning a rabbit hole bistro/diner.

Considering the size of the lot and the house that I have on that 64x64...well, there's no room for an on-property graveyard with "headstones" Urns I could potentially do in the Butsudan. But it's Mayumi that I don't want on the property. :D

OK...so what I'll do is if I want to make it a private graveyard is make it a private residential lot, delete the mausoleum and if I want a structure to look like a mausoleum, just build a mausoleum structure instead of placing the EA structure on it. That way it's just a vacant facade, made to look like a mausoleum.
