Sims 3 & 4 on same computer?

Hey everyone, not sure if this is the right spot but I was wondering if I would be able to have Sims 3 & 4 with some of the expansions on my PC? I have 830GB out of 929GB left (because of other items on said PC) and I believe its a a 1TB too. If you guys need more system info I can give it, I just didn't want to clutter the post with all the info! I have a custom desktop rig too.

  • The two games are independent of each other. There is no reason you can't have both installed at the same time as long as you have sufficient hard drive space to accommodate them and with 830 GB free you have plenty. Whether either or both games can be expected to perform as well as they can, and how many EPs each should be able to handle, will depend on other system specs including processor, graphics card, and RAM.

Thank you for letting me know! I am planning on getting another drive in the future, I just am not savvy enough to install it but my computer was built by my brother and his friend and it runs pretty well, like GTA V and such that require a bit more higher power. If you wanted specs I can give it! But I did run both Sims 3 & 4 at different times on the pc and it ran pretty good on custom settings.
  • It's not so much that I want to see the specs, but no one can really make an informed comment on expected game performance vs. limitations without knowing at least those three things about the hardware on the system you are working with. :)
  • Ah I see, no worries! Below are my specs. I didn't want it to be too massive so I posted the stuff that seemed important!

  • Both games will be fine on that system. You will want/need to arrange for frame rate (fps) capping for TS3 if you haven't already done so or planned to do so because, being an older game, it has no functional built-in fps limiter and your graphics card is strong enough to throw wildly high frame rates if left unchecked. TS4 has this function built in so nothing to worry about there.

I or someone else here can expand on those instructions if needed.

That's good to know! Sims 3 was pretty fine on it with only tiny hiccups with changing the speed. As for the TS4 thing, that's always good to know!

And that'd be great if you or someone else would like to do it but so far Sims 3 doesn't have problems on my system.

@MajinKitty230 Yes, of course you would. Computer games are separate units that don't interact with each other in any way. The only limiting factor is the space on your hard drive or SSD. You must always leave at least 10-15 %, or 25-35GB, empty so that the operative system and other basic programs can operate freely.

@MajinKitty230 You must turn on vsync and triple buffering in your Nvidia Control Panel, that'll lock the games frame rate to the monitors refresh rate. If you don't do this your nice graphics card, GTX 1050 Ti, will be damaged, and it can happen sooner than you think. So don't play any more until you've got this sorted.
