- They both look good, but the Sims 3 one has more personality and more stuff. Sims 4 expansions have always been lacking in stuff and features since its announcement. TS3 doesn't have loading screens and super bright colors.
- I want to be excited for the Sims 4 but I lose interest every time I play it. I buy every pack and EP for the game and I still find myself bored and missing things from the Sims 3 (and 2). I'll probably buy this EP too (as always) even though I know the outcome.
In the beginning, I felt like TS4 had so much potential and I was excited for new releases but now, I don't know what changed, maybe it's their target audience is much younger than I am, maybe it's just too "childish" for my liking but I'm not sure what they could do to make me interested in it as much as TS2 and TS3. I just feel that it's all very vague, all of the Sims are pretty much the same, it lacks real gameplay (even with mods) and the packs leave a lot to be desired. I felt that the Parenthood pack was the best one because it added a lot of gameplay IMO, but I feel that EPs have less content/depth than GPs, where it should be the opposite. What's new being shown in the trailer?
Dolphins, toddler's playing in the sand, cleaning up a beach and....?
To be fair, I'm not 100% sure what you could newly add to this pack theme. The island thing has been done now like 5 or 6 times throughout the entire series (including spinoffs)
The environmental aspect seems engaging, but will unfortunately likely be simplified and will not interact with other content. We'll see, I suppose. TS4 has a lot of good ideas and a lot of poor execution.- There are plenty of new ideas for worthwhile features and not only Island Paradise/Island Living but any and all EP gameplay mechanics. It's not good to have such a limited imagination if one is working in an creative field such as video game development.
Just to name a few ideas that would only be pulled off on an game engine designed for in-depth gameplay of life simulation with the improvements and advancements over TS3 with today's technology.
-Proper cruise ships that actually stop at various locations and it would be possible to get left behind if you don't get back in time
-Underwater living (I suppose I'm thinking of submarines and exploring the deep ocean and having sea bases similar to Subnautica.)

-Mermaids from infancy to elder that actually live in the ocean and have sea life as pets and can be played like human Sims
-New careers such as a Marine Biologist, etc
-More sea life like whales, seals, etc

It never was a good idea to lie and call the game TS4 and should of been exactly what it was designed to be...an online social game where you can invite your Origin friends into your space/server/whatever. - mrcsdasilvaNew TravelerBoth are super cute!SpoilerIt looks to me as if there's more content on Sims 3, though.
I also found the part of the mermaid for TS4 way more appealling. Not to mention that those sims ARE gorgeous (I love that hair that the mermaid has on). It made me miss having IP installed. :'-( - I don't know. But I will take an educated guess that you may still have to buy the remaster regardless of having the original on Steam. The reasoning, so far, I think is because there are some or all? new character models that has been replaced. So they didn't just give a HD upgrade to the game. There might be other things they added or replaced as well.
@ClarionOfJoy I wanted to better explain if you don't mind. It is not common for game developers to offer gamer's who already own their game a free copy whether physical or digital of the same but remastered version. For example, I have both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 on Playstation 2 but bought the remastered versions together on Playstation 3. I already have Resident Evil 0 on GameCube but bought the remastered version on PS4. It would be nice to sometimes offer a free game for those who already own it in an older form but I get why that's not really a thing.
Besides, I think the remastered versions are mainly for those who never played the game and can now play it in better quality and for those who are just diehard fans and don't mind repurchasing a better version of the same game. Otherwise, for those who already own the game and don't care about the improvements can stick with the original PS1, PSN, or Steam version. Unfortunately, my PS1 version of FFVIII always freezes during a certain point where I can no longer progress so I got it again on PSN but now that unexpected announcement at E3 about a remastered version has me excited to play this game all over again. I mean, VIII was one my favorite and prominent childhood video games I played so many, many hours during the summer. The music is nostalgic to me and still phenomenal to listen to. <3Spoiler
