Suggestion for a laptop or desktop.

GTX 970 is a very good card but it's a bit overkill for just the Sims 3 and 4 unless you plan on playing other demanding titles. GTX 960 will serve you enough. Note that the 970 technically only has 3.5 gb but I won't go into detail.

we know about the 3.5 issue but for the price of that computer with 16 gb ram is worth just going for the computer. OP does want more ram. I found computer with the 960 but they were not offering the more ram when I was looking.

If I had the money I would buy that computer right now but my laptop is only a year old! I do want a desktop but that will have to wait. This is why I dont like helping people look for a computer because I see things I want LOL

But I have made a promise to myself to not indulge in upgrades that are not completely needed, I brought my laptop and truth be told I have hardly used it. its almost 2 years old and cost a fortune.

If I win lotto ill send you your card and me some ram! LOL I love my laptop and I use it all the time. I want the desktop like I want more ram in my laptop. I want these things I don't need them :p

No one knows why and it maybe due to memory leaks. EA told me the game needs more virtual memory not just ram.The sims 3 programing is messed up but my game plays much better on 16 gb than it does on 8. Other people with 16gb have reported same. EA does not tell the full truth on their specs about this game.

Have to agree on how much of a ram eater the Sims 3 engine runs. I've always thought of upgrading to 16gb, but I don't really need it yet :P

It is a ram hog. The launcher alone takes 2gb to run. I bypass it and only need it for downloading and uploading. It does have my curiosity how this game would run on 32gb and if you would notice a difference
