Was this a thing or did I imagine it? (ITF related)

So, I had babies both ways in the future world (the regular way and engineered) and what I was thinking was that being born in the future would automatically give them a maxed out Advanced Technology skill when they grew up. I have a child I engineered in Oasis Landing and checked their skills when they reached childhood. I don't see any AT skill listed. Is it one of those that they don't get until they reach teenager status? Or is it like a hidden skill that they don't show as having until you get them to do something related to A.T. like talk to a Holosprite?

@carlystur03 I don't remember babies born there having max AT. but while there sims do learn AT at a faster rate than home world. But I could be mistaken I haven't gone there in years.
I do remember my babies when aged to kids there, did have the HoloPhone, and the hidden trait Future Sim (Future Sim
Lifetime Happiness Points: 10,000, any Sims conceived while in the Future will be born with it as a hidden trait. )

I was just rereading the Things you didn't know thread and someone posted this "Plumbots (even if built in the present and you've never been to the future before) are treated as if they had level 10 in the future technology skill, even though it doesn't show under certain circumstances. If they have the repairman trait chip they can also instantly upgrade the sonic shower even if your own Sim has a low technology level.
The same goes for children that were adopted in the future, but the skill always shows." so that is making me think that when your baby ages to child it will have the maxed out AT! :)
  • It's inconsistent. Imaginary friends that your babies from Oasis Landing got there always get the "future sim" trait if you make them real. Most of the kids themselves don't.

The trait itself causes errors in the game if your sims have it in the present (nothing serious, just a bit annoying). I usually remove it via Master Controller. Good thing though: those sims keep their level 10 Advanced Technology skill even after you take away the trait.
  • If you want level 10 advanced technology skill for children, I think you need them to have Future Sim trait from birth, and then never leave the future world until they age up to children. I almost had 100% consistency if done that way.

I think the glitches for Future Sims are nothing more than few animations issues. Future Sims use holograms while talking, and sometimes those holograms don't show up even though sims make the same hand gestures that is supposed to create those holograms. Or the hologram shows up a few meters above the sims for some reason. But that should be about it unless I am missing something.
  • Thank you for all your responses. Perhaps this child just got unlucky and didn't automatically get maxed AT skill. Maybe I'll try the adoption thing in OL to see if that makes any difference.
