@Lexers615 I actually find that the teen stage is the easiest to guess. It's pretty simple - if you're a teen, you're between the ages of 13 and 19. The only way I could see anyone changing that is that they consider 18 and 19 year olds "young adults", but they're still teens. It's in the name of their age, so technically speaking they're teenagers until they're 20.
Actually, "Teens" seem to have a legal obligation to attend high school. Depending of the country in which you live in, this obligation ends between 16 and 18."Emily4331;14901054" wrote:
Your midlife crisis comment, I assume, was made because you misunderstand my lifespan.
I assume you're turning 30 in a few weeks. That's not the middle of my guessed sims' lifespan. The elder stage starts at 60. Elder sims can die at any point in their lifestage, but my elder sims usually live into what I'll assume is their 80s. Maybe even 90s in really well taken care of sims. So the "middle age" of my sims would be the same as real life - anywhere between 40 and 50. Averaging at 45.
You'd think you would be happy with my placement if you're turning 30 - I just called you a young adult!
EDIT: And I called you a young adult for 5 more years! As they say, 30 is the new 20!
Actually, I'll be turning 35 in a couple more weeks... Yeah, like it says in the game, feeling my younger days are gone, but also feeling like it was yesterday... ;)- Emily433110 years agoSeasoned Ace

Oh! Good point. I didn't even consider schooling factoring in. Where I come from, most high school graduates are 17 or 18. I could see young adulthood then starting at 19 instead of 20. I'll just pretend my little simmies go to high school for 5 years instead of 4...those poor simmies. "donnabailey;14900486" wrote:
ah, but you're probably just a youngster yet. Honestly the one thing I've learned with getting older is that "old" is always 10 years older than you are now. Even if you're 70, probably. :#
Haha that's very true. I am still very young. :)- SimplyJen10 years agoSeasoned AceIn Texas @ 17 you are considered an adult.
- Baby 0-18 months
Toddler 18 months-4
Child 5-12
Teen 13-18
YA 19-35
Adult 35-65
Elder 65 on up - I don't associate sim life stages with human age ranges, but with a single human age.
Infant - about 3 months or so
Toddler - about a year old, maybe a little older
Child - about 10
Teen - about 16 (mainly since teens can learn how to drive, and for me 16 was the earliest I could get a license)
YA - mid-twenties
Adult - mid-forties
Elder - over 70 - Here's my options settings. Some of these settings aren't supported by the ingame age sliders.
babies-60 days.newborn to 1 year.
toddlers-120 days.1year to third birthday.
children-360 days.3-9 years.
teens-180 days.9-12 years
YA-540 days.12-21 years.
adults-1080 days.21-39+ years
elders-540 days.39+ years.Lasts for nine years. - ZombiePary10 years agoSeasoned AceI rarely to never think of my sims in years. YA's are simply YA's, babies are babies, toddlers are toddlers, and so on.

That's the way I do it too. "R3B3CKVH;14902633" wrote:

Babies are definitely infants. They can't do anything except eat sleep or poop.
Toddlers are in the learning stages- talking, walking, potty training, floor play... so they could be anywhere from a year to 4 years old.
I think YA starts at 18, because in the game, you can't attend university or graduate from high school until you are a YA. For most of us, that would be at around 18. For me, it was 17.
I like to think of the adults in their Mid 30's and up because the signs of aging are setting in.
Elders would have to be in their late 70's or higher because they are completely gray, and stooped over- barely able to walk, unless you give them the "gentleman" strut with a cane. my 93 year old grandmother walks better than the elders in the game do, but I see your reasoning, since Elder women can not have babies, you might conclude they are post menopausal.
I am in agreement with the others who don't see sims in ages, just stages. Best not to overthink it, I think.
This is the way I think of the stages too.
Also I have configured NRaas Story progression so my adults can not have children within 10 days of turning elder (I use a 91 day life span). So in my games they go menopausal before becoming an elder. That way the child will at least be a teen and can stay on by themselves in their own house when the parents die.
Edit: The stages I use are
baby - 2 days
toddler - 5 days
child - 7 days
teen - 14 days
YAdult - 21 days
adult - 35 days
elder - 7 days
Making everything a multiple of 7 means they always have their birthday on the same day of the week.
