- I chose no bills ever, because I wish I had no bills ever. (And I cannot tell you how many times I've forgotten to pay the bills and the repo man comes, ugh!!) Attractive is a close second. It just depends on what they want to do with their lives. My favorite is the collection helper, so if they have earned a lot, they get that one.
I like my sims to have needs, I don't think I've ever used steel bladder or hardly hungry, lol. I do have some dragons that can help with those, though. - Long Distance Friend. I know that managing potential relationship decay is every bit as much part of the game to balance as bladder, hunger, and the other motives are, and it doesn't really take much effort to text one's friends now and then to keep in touch, but returning to a household I haven't played in a long while after rotating around through the others I play in turn only to find that they no longer know any of their friends, and seeing them suffer continuously with negative moodlets due to friend loss when there wasn't much I could do to prevent it as I wasn't even controlling them, is painful and not a fun part of the game for me.
But I really should have said Other, since Inappropriate But In a Good Way is almost a given even for the sims I never play but have over to the house. If a guest wants to take a shower in the middle of the day and then clean the bathroom, I am certainly not interested in stopping them or calling them rude and inappropriate (although in real life, chances are I would end up cleaning again after they finished...the bathroom I mean, not the guest, but depends on who they are). And if my sims want to do the same when they are guests themselves, again by all means. :)
Fireproof Homestead is also (almost) a given, but only one member of each household at a time needs to have that one. - Creative because I love to write and I love making my sims write books or manage blogs to make money! Well, from the books, dunno about the blogs/social media.
- ZombiePary8 years agoSeasoned AceI always choose fast learner first.
I don't ever give my sims rewards like steel bladder or fireproof or anything like that. I find it amusing when they end up peeing themselves for whatever reason. I fear that my game might become too boring for me if my sims didn't have to take care of their needs. If they're in danger of any kind, I sometimes pull their need bars up, but only in an emergency really.
Also, I saw two sims become overheated the other day at SV festival, and they both burst into flame. That was hilarious, I've never seen that happen before. - ZeeGee18 years agoSeasoned AceNo bills ever cause I can’t remember to pay bills and usually don’t notice the pop ups so inevitably the repo man comes and get that one piece of furniture I spent HOURS on designing. :s
- pebblesrcks8 years agoRising VeteranInappropriate but in a good way. Makes it easier when playing poor sims or if my sim in a relationship decides to spend the night...or several nights at their romantic interest's place.
I play with cheats on so I simply slide my sims needs up, move relationship bars how I want and that kinda makes things like the steel bladder or dirt defiant LTR redundant. - SimplyJen8 years agoSeasoned AceOops! I meant to vote for Opportunistic. It's usually the first one I grab but I might grab something else if I need sims to easily achieve something more important first like their hobby, career, or profession.
I never use No Bills Ever but I might allow Inheritance every once in a while if a sim needs help paying off a loan. I used to favor Long Distance Friend but I've adjusted how the game handles distant relationships through NRaas: Retuner. - UltimateMara8 years agoSeasoned AceI think I go with observant. But honestly it sometimes depends on the Sim. Though there are a few that each Sim gets.
I never use steel bladder or others that affect motives. (Even though I have more than enough rewards points by now!) I like to keep things realistic as I can. And taking care of needs doesn't really take up much time for me. - Most of them are getting the needs first.
In one case I played Vita and Nick Alto and gave them the observant, though it will be more useful for them. - PalmArrow8 years agoSeasoned AceWhen I raise a sim from birth, Steel Bladder is usually the first, and Observant and Fast Learner are the next on the list. The other ones depend on the LTW of the particular sim or the career I want them to have. Every sim will also either get the Long Distance Friend award eventually, or complete the Everybody's Best Friend charisma skill challenge which has the same effect.
If I start a save by creating a large household, I will use cheats to give everyone Steel Bladder and Long Distance Friend from the start, because both the toilet need and the deterioration of friendships annoy me too much to want to deal with them in too many sims at once.
I understand players who don't like needs LTR's because it goes against the life simulation aspect of the game. But for me that aspect is not very interesting. For me the Sims is a work of interactive fiction. When I have to describe the game to someone who never played it, I describe it as something in between watching a movie and directing a movie. And, as @JoAnne65 said, you don't need to see the characters in your movie go to the toilet!
