400 - Bad Request

Has anyone run into this Launcher connection issue today? I saw a thread from about a month ago with folks experiencing the same issue. Seems like it has something to do with an EA/TheSims3 server error ... ?

I also noticed that Edge (which I don't use) went through an update at some point. Not sure if that's related to the "400" issue, though. I've run though as many troubleshooting steps as possible like clearing cache, adjusting network settings, etc. (minus un/re-installing all my games), still no luck. 

I can still login to the Sims 3 website, but when I try downloading content, I get the message on the Launcher that "there was an error while downloading". And then there's the Log file info:

I can play the game no problem, but I was just getting started on cleaning up content I've had stored on the Exchange for more than a decade, and it's looking like it has to be uploaded through the launcher for me to even get the packs in an accessible format to clean them. I hope it's resolvable, and I really hope it won't take weeks/months like what others have experienced 😓

  • lykanthropy​  You're getting the error 400, and nothing in this thread has helped?  Please go over all the suggestions if you haven't already.

    If those don't or didn't help, try clearing Windows temp files:

    • Click Windows key-R and enter %temp% in the run box
    • You should be in C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Temp
    • Delete everything inside; if you can't, restart the computer and try again
    • Restart (again) after you've deleted all the files and folders

    None of that works for my computers with windows 11. It has no issues on Windows 10 though, I can play on an older computer. I've messaged the EA team.

    400 error and even launching it doesn't doesn't allow login upon the world start map or whatever it's called.  Wouldn't launch without logging in. I use Microsoft defender and malware bytes, both turned off during EA troubleshooting,  they even suggested turning off the firewall which didn't matter. EA support told me this was a known issue for windows 11 and the Sims 3 launcher after doing their troubleshooting, so I turned everything back on when done. 

    That was a few days ago. Same experience on both laptop and desktop running windows 11. No issue with desktop running windows 10. I'm not surprised, not going to keep trying on windows 11. Odd thing is my laptop started acting odd, went into an endless error loop, would not reset, repair, or reinstall Windows. It's going in to be wiped/repaired now. Unsure if related or not, but no issues prior to trying their suggestions. =/ Just figured I'd respond regarding this error. I had already tried your suggestions to previous posts. 

    Edit to fix spelling. My laptop hard drive died and had to be replaced. Weird timing, though I doubt it had anything to do with the troubleshooting.

    Hey! Sorry I can't help! I too have had this problems MULTIPLE times! Its happened right now! A few weeks ago, I had to set my computer completely. I'm trying to find a solution on Google, But Nothing! I really don't want to factory reset my computer again!

    I was able to clear my data thanks to this which did bring up my launcher normally. Thank you SiegeWeapon!

    EDIT: I changed my password (again) and got logged in.

    I am still not able to log in. It WILL NOT take my login information. I just changed my password yesterday when all this started so there's no way it has expired. This is driving me absolutely batty.
