Add Sims 3 Create a World to EA game library?

Besides gameplay, creating new worlds is one of reasons The Sims 3 remains a fairly active gaming community in the franchise despite its age and that it's no longer being worked on. Back then, they released a beta software called Create a World to (obviously) let players create their own world for the game and share it with fellow players. And to create a fully formed world, you need the Edit in Game button to function, which launches the game for you to build in. Now, it launches Origin (or tries to if no longer installed because of the EA app) and then prompts you to download the EA or does literally nothing. Either way, the game doesn't launch.

In Origin, I noticed CAW would show up in my game library as WorldBuilderCS.exe. I don't know if there's a way to add this to my game library in the EA app, perhaps this would redirect EIG to launch through there instead of trying to open Origin? Should I complain over on The Sims' message board for them to possibly update this old program? I used that local.xml fix for a while, but it doesn't work anymore and I'm determined to still finish this world I've spent months on. I know many others who've been working on worlds for months/years, too, and it sucks to have to give that up.

@starlysh I doubt Create a World will be added as a native EA App game as it was released as a free product and an add-on tool, and it's not an actual "game".

The issues between EA App and CAW are not something that can be easily fixed due to differences between Origin and EA App so, for now, we can only hope the developers will be able to find a solution.
  • @starlysh If you still have the discs, you can switch to an all-disc installation and update the game to 1.67. It will take awhile, though, since it would mean uninstalling then reinstalling everything via DVD. If you don't have the discs and don't have the money (who does these days), you can try borrowing them off of someone else.

I have the first few disks, but bought the rest on Origin or the Store. Not sure I have the patience to reinstall everything again 😃

After posting this, I discovered a thread on the Sims forum that gave me some hope that they're working on a solution. I still wish EA would let players have a choice until their new app is fixed.
