can my friend and i play sims 3 on two different computers?

so my friend lives in a different town and has a different like game code and everything and i wanted to know if there was a way to like play Sims 3 with her...? i mean i read somewhere that you can invite someone to join a game but idk if that includes the Sims...

    the sims 3 is a single player game , maybe what you heard about an invite is if you have the showtime expansion pack ? which is where you can invite or your friend can invite your showtime sims singer,acrobat of magician to perform in your town whcich you don't get to interact with the sims that come to do a show you send your sim to watch the show then your friends sims goes home
