Cannot install exchange world with launcher on macOS Big Sur

When I download Lucky Palms from the exchange, and open the file (which then opens the launcher) I cannot install it with the launcher. I can see the world in the "downloads" tab, but when I click install the launcher freezes. Furthermore, this odd thing happens where any button I put my curser over becomes transparent. I am not able to click anything and have to force quit.

I have a MacBook Pro from 2017 and macOS Big Sur version 11.6.

Is there any way to install the world without the launcher?

I really hope someone can help as this is my favorite world to play in. I need to save Cricket from her crazy parents! Many thanks in advance.

  • @dampetgk  Try closing the launcher and reopening it.  The box next to the name Lucky Palms should change to a thumbnail of the world; that means it's ready to install.  (This can take a couple minutes after the download starts, depending on the speed of your internet.)  And when you do click Install, you should see a second plumbob in your dock.  Click on that to see the install progress.

If LP still won't install, open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads and delete everything inside, then download a fresh copy of the world and repeat the above.

On second thought... When I click on install nothing happens except the window switches to Origin. Am I supposed to make any actions in Origin for the install to begin?

@dampetgk  Origin shouldn't be popping up when you click Install for a store item.  Normally, you'd get a second green plumbob in your dock, denoting the installer; the reason you'd need to click that plumbob is that the installer window is hidden behind the launcher by default.  Clicking on the Origin logo would bring it up, as would clicking on the Origin window in the dock, but that's to be expected.

If Origin is showing up even though you're doing nothing to open it, try repairing Sims 3: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 3 icon, and select Repair.

If that doesn't help, move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to create a new folder, and try downloading and installing Lucky Palms again.  You may still need to wait a couple minutes, close the launcher, and reopen it in order for the process to work; again, look for the thumbnail depicting the world next to its name.
