12 years agoManual patching didn't work. Thanks for your help, but I'm done. EA and their horrid Origin software can do without my business in the future.

Specs should not be the issue here.
I think it's something that is locking that file.
Did you try turning off all background processes, then clean out everything and then reinstall. Then restart the computer ?
- Close the game (kill it if necessary)
- Click Start or press the Windows key and R, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK. (could be different depending on your OS)
- Click on Startup.
- Select disable All.
- Click on Services.
- Check the box that says Hide All Microsoft Services, then Disable All.
- Apply, then restart your system.

All non essential processes are stopped whenever I install a game. And that set aside, this was the first thing I tried to install once I got my computer set up again. Unless it's a direct compatibility issue with something that my laptop *has* to run, there shouldn't be any issue there.

I really don't know what else to suggest. Maybe roberta has another idea.
