catastrophic error during update

Whenever I attempt to update my Sims 3 to the newest update (TS3_1.63.5.0240xx). I get up to about halfway during the installation and then a pop up box says 'Catastophic Failure'. I can download the update, it just will not install. I have tried uninstalling every expansion pack as well as the base game. It still is not working. Please help. Thanks!
