coming home from university

When my sims are returning to their homecity after being away at the university, they get stuck on the spot they returned on and i can't do anything. They disappear from the side where you choose you...

I did the same as you, I went to edit town, but what I did was to go to my house and split the family from the one who got stuck, and move to the clipboard, click that sim and add it to the house again, the only problem is that sim looses all their wishes but the lifetime modlets and inventory stay.
