this issue is really starting to irritate me now, as there is a certain fish i’m trying to get in moonlight falls for an alchemy potion (the fairy damsel fish) and i cannot get it because it’s only found in open water. very frustrating. anyone know a way to cheat the fish into my sims inventory?
@gloomnymph Pick a random lot and create a pond there, or save an existing fishing spot to the in-game bin and place it on a new lot. Either way, go into Buy mode on that lot, open the cheats console (cmd-shift-C in the 64-bit version), and enter these cheats, in order:

buydebug on
Choose the "sort by function" option and click the ? symbol, then choose fish spawners and look for the ocean (rare) option. Place one or two of those in the pond—it's fine if their circles overlap—and your sim should be able to fish there. Because the water is a pond, you should be able to click it; the fact that the spawner is for salt-water fish makes no difference.
Be sure to turn the cheats off when you're done building the pond you want. If you'd like to get rid of the lot afterwards, reenable the cheats, and you should be able to pick up and delete the spawners.
