I've read all the posts about the "serious error" message appearing when trying to load a saved game, but I get that message when I try to start a new game. Does the same solution work or do I need to do something different? I've already tried repairing the game and that didn't work.
So if you look at my post from yesterday. I tried EVERYTHING. but I kept reading the threads, found one that had a similar situation (custom pc built, new graphics and speed etc,) and the solution to create a new user, no microsoft acc attached, offline so onedrive doesnt sync; was ultimately the solution. That means for my case and maybe for you (since i am too starting a new game) means that Onedrive is the culprit. I now need to figure out how to get Onedrive to stop doing that on my main account so that I can play sims without having to switch to the admin acc.
