Forum Discussion
Hi. I recently installed El Capitan on my Mac, and I just tried to open The Sims 3. Prior to installing El Capitan, I didn't have too many problems with the game, but now, every time I try to play the game, I receive the message "No game disk found! Please insert The Sims 3 University Life game disc before proceeding." I have tried cleaning the disc (though I'm not sure if there are scratches I can't see on it) and restarting my Mac.
On a few other forums, I read that I should try adding the games to Origin, which I did, but opening them via Origin still gave me the same "No game disk found!" message. I would like to be able to open the game without the disc, if possible. I read that this involves uninstalling all of my expansion packs and my base game (or maybe just the most recent expansion pack?), but I also don't want to lose my save data.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
I've moved your post to this stickied thread. Please read the instructions in the opening post link. You do not have to uninstall your entire game, just your most recent EP/SP. You also need to download and install the digital version of the 1.67 patch.

Thank you! I just have one more question - if I uninstall the most recent expansion pack, will this delete/corrupt/in any way tamper with the save files I currently have for games using that expansion pack?
Thanks so much!

No, so long as you don't open the game and save it without the EP/SP installed.

I'm trying to uninstall my most recent EP, University Life, as I was instructed to here, but just as I was starting the process, this message popped up: "You currently have one or more expansion packs for The Sims™ 3 installed. Uninstalling The Sims™ 3 University Life may cause those expansion pack(s) to no longer function correctly unless you update your game online via The Sims 3 Launcher. Do you wish to continue uninstalling The Sims™ 3 University Life?" Will uninstalling this expansion pack really damage my other EPs?

Don't start the game. Just uninstall it, download and install the digital version, download and install the digital patch if needed and away you go 🙂 You have to go into the hidden library folder and delete one folder that's left behind before you reinstall the digital EP. I've explained it in the guide so it should be easy to find.
