So. I'm running a late 2010 model MacBook Pro on OSX El Capitan 10.11.12. I've owned Sims 3 + Ambitions for five years now on disc, but as of late my disc drive has taken to only reading one particular DVD and nothing else. Of course, Sims requires my disc to play, so I decided to try downloading Origin, removing my old Sims, and installing from Origin in hopes that I could bypass this disc issue. Installed fine, or so it appeared, but now every time I try to open it from Origin or from the applications folder, I simply receive a pop up saying "Unknown error occurred." No error code, no nothing.
So I come for help. What next? I might try another uninstall and reinstall from Origin tonight, but I'd really like for some help so that this works (as purchasing an external disc drive is a bit outside of my capabilities and no longer have access to things to try cleaning the disc drive).
Thanks in advance!
Did you download the digital patch after installing from Origin?
Moving this to the stickied disc error thread.

I just did, went through the whole process; still the same thing. Attaching a screenshot of the error I receive.

Close Origin and try launching your game from your Applications folder.
Are you absolutely sure that you a) uninstalled the EP properly by getting rid of all relevant files before downloading and installing the digital version and b) downloaded the digital patch, not the region specific disc one.
