    Uninstall your most recent EP then download and reinstall the digital version from Origin. Instructions here.

Whenever I try to play the game, the following message comes up: "We are unable to verify that your disc is a valid copy of The Sims 3 Pets. Please contact customer service." The game has worked fine for me for years. I started having this issue right after I updated my Mac to El Capitan; not sure if it's related.

      Thanks for your help! I uninstalled the game and downloaded Origin. However, when I entered the code for the Pets expansion pack, it only registers as The Sims 3. I tried playing the game anyway, but a message still came up about the disc.

        @swinza

        Hover your mouse over the base game and press i in the pop up. You should now see Pets.

        Reasons for still getting the disc error:

        1. You didn't properly uninstall the EP and left some residual files behind.
        2. You haven't downloaded and installed the super patch for the digital version of the game.
