Downloading the digital version does work. It doesn't work for those who don't completely follow the process properly though. Here are the things you HAVE to do (assuming you have successfully registered your product codes in Origin and the game is available digitally to you):
- Manually uninstall the EP properly, not leaving behind a single file which can interfere with the new digital download of said EP.
- Download and install the DIGITAL patch manually. Don't patch through the Launcher.
- If the above don't work, and you are 100% sure that you have completed them properly, then completely uninstall and reinstall the entire game digitally, applying the digital patch manually too.
Some have managed to get their game to work by bypassing the Launcher but this disc error issue is widespread for El Capitan users.
I'm moving your thread to the stickied disc error thread. It helps to keep all information in one place 🙂

9 years agoOkay thanks for the reply, I'll try that anyway. I've copied the Saves and a Mods folder to my desktop and plan to add that back into the Electronic Arts folder once I've reinstalled the game from Origin, will this cause a problem with the game because I'm keeping some of the files from the previous game?

No, it shouldn't do. In my opening post on page 1 is my link on manually uninstalling an EP, those are the instructions you need to follow carefully 🙂
