Cyclic redundancy check error when trying to install Sims 3

I am trying to install Sims 3 on my laptop and it gets quite far in the installation process and then suddenly comes up with Cyclic redundancy check error or error incorrect function.

It gives me the option to retry but then 10 minutes later the same thing happens again.

I have cleaned the registry using ccleaner and also used disk defragmenter but the issue is still occuring.

My laptop is not that old so I am hoping it is nothing to do with my laptop and the disc is new and unscratched as I got it for Christmas.
