Editted: Apparently this isn't how to add a screen shot since the link was disabled. ā¹ļø
hope you be waiting too long for the updates š
I got everything you suggested updated and I checked for updates for my anti-virus and my system mechanic (both of which were up to date) and restarted my sims launcher. . . . . . . .and still have that **bleep** red X.
>ā¹ļø
I was soooo hoping the updates were the problem too.
the redx is getting as bad as "liam" ...do you have mods that are outdated
Ok, the launcher kept saying I needed an updated version of Flash which I have installed and updated repeatedly so I uninstalled Origin and redownloaded it. I just restarted my launcher and SO FAR it is red X free.
Hopefully it's just a problem with Origin and this fixed it.
OMFG - I think my head just exploded.
>ā¹ļø
I closed my launcher and reopened it and the evil red X of doom is back.
Arrrrrgggh!
:robotfrustrated: throws you an air hug don't give up
LMAO!!
I pulled my whole mods folder out of my EA file and my launcher started with no red X so I guess I'll start going through and again rechecking my mods are up to date and deleting anything I can possibly do with out. >ā¹ļø
I'm quickly nearing the point I'm going to play with no mods or CC.
sometimes if one deletes a cc item it leaves a file behind but reloads it self
go to the DCBackup folder and delete everything in there do not delete the ccmerge.package.
these files are safe to delete too
I deleted:
ccmerge.package.
CasPartCache.package
compositorCache.package
scriptCache.package
simCompositorCache.package
socialCache.package.package
I have updated all my mods and deleted those I couldn't find updates to.
I've updated or deleted the custom skins I use.
I've deleted all my world caches and saved games.
I've run the Dashboard repeatedly.
And. . . . . still I have the red X of doom.
:'(
Where is the installed sims3 packages that are installed found?
I don't mean the Downloads folder.
I mean, where does the game hold the info? I think it's either the DCcache or Library. If I delete the installed sims3 packages from whichever folder - theoretically, that will delete all the sims3 packages including the bad CC and hopefully rid me of the red X of doom and then I can reinstall the sims 3 packages. . . . . right?
the DCCache folder that is where the actual downloads are stored the mods folder is all your non ea cc wait a min may be your mods resource.cfg is corrupt ??
p.s. check your p.ms
Thanks for the pm's. - I'm reading over them now.
How do I tell if the resource.cfg is corrupt ?
I've had the same resource.cfg since I first bought my first Sims3 game. I don't know where to redownload it. ā¹ļø
I found the resource download and am replacing mine.
so i would say that you have the old way for the mods the new way is the way to go lemme see what i can find and pm you again
edit to fix waht to what lol
ā¹ļø
I thought I was using the new way.
it is a slight possiabilty that a file/folder is in the wrong spot
Ok, I've gone through the old way/ new way and mine was set up correctly.
I just deleted everything out of my DCcache and restarted my pc - the red X is gone.
I'm going to try restarting my launcher a couple more times and start my game a couple times to make sure it's gone.
*crossing my fingers*
fingers crossed here too š
It seems to be running correctly. I put the ebc (EA store) files back in my DCcache and restarted my launcher and all worked correctly.
I left the dbc file out and am manually reinstalling the 3rd party content a few at a time and rechecking my launcher occasionally. So far it seems good.
I'll keep you posted.
please do...looks like you got it beat š
. . . . . . . . . Nope!
The red X is back.
WTH???
>ā¹ļø
did the red x happen after the last reinstalls of the cc
I fell asleep and I restarted my pc after I woke up. The launcher started right up, I hopped online to post to you and when I clicked back over the X was there.
I have again deleted the .dbc file from DCcache and the X is again gone.
The only 3rd party CC I installed via the launcher is hair colors from Anubis, a pair of earrings and several hairs from Newsea. The hair colors I've had forever so it has to be either the earrings or one of the hairs.
was waiting for you leave out all of those for now replace one at a time to see starting with the hair
So far I've gotten the hair colors and the earrings back in - no problems.
I just started the hairs.
good luck
