Do you have to pay to play Sims 3 online??

Is there a monthly fee for playing Sims online??  Had a star wars game that was online only and you had to pay a fee to play online.

Before I go ahead and install the Sims 3 needed to check first as didn't want to get caught again.

Also can Sims 3 be played offline?? What about Sims supernatural?
