Do you have bitDefender installed ? There's a known conflict with the game and bitDefender on Win 8

does it have to be bitDefender because i already have an antivirus on my laptop?

      I don't know if other programs conflict. BitDefender is known to do so.

      You can try by turning off AntiVirus and check if the game than starts.

        i have turned off the anti-virus on my laptop and tried to run it again and still hasnt played.

        any other solutions or ideas?
