EA app not giving a download directory

I tried pretty much everything too and there was another topic or two for this exact same problem that the ea app doesn't download the sims 3 and all other games can be downloaded fine except the sims 3
so if anyone else has another solution am open to any at this point

Hey, I spoke with live chat and let them know of the bug. They thanked me for making them aware of it and will have the team fix it in an update. They said it will probably be posted on the twitter when it is fixed. It is the double \\ backslash issue so we just gotta wait

Yes everyone is having the same problem install location is not present but blank upon opening the download menu for The Sims 3. Folder settings it is set with two backslashes no matter whichever folder you select it is the same C:/Local Disk where as other games don't have this and download fine has nothing to do with your pc.

This is exactly my issue.  An extra slash and no way to override it.

@DoctorPatelMD @jschultz640 and @Wiesbaden_Hessen  I've moved your posts to the master thread for the issue with the double slashes in the file path.  There's no fix at the moment, but EA is looking into the issue.

I bought a sims 3 expansion today to play with my EA play game, it wasn't allowing me to install the expansion as the EA app often does so as I usually do when I buy expansions I attempted to reinstall the entire game to get the expansions back. That usually works for me. 

It now won't let me redownload the game. No matter what I do...

So now instead of being automatic like it typically is, I always have to manually select the install location in my files and then it looks like it will work and it has enough room and everything but when I download, it only tries to download the expansion packs and not the base game and it says "something went wrong, an unknown error record. 
I've seen that probably 50 times now as I've tried everything.

So here's the thing I've noticed: it never tries to download the base game, just the expansions.

It also says I have 3 of the expansions downloaded that are not downloaded yet on my computer.

Things I tried to fix it:

I tried clearing the cache,

I tried cancelling the EA membership and then I bought the base game so that maybe it would let me download it, and that didn't work. I thought that was the culprit, the membership. 

I tried redownloading the EA app. 

I tried manually wiping my computer so it was as if it was fresh and redownloaded the EA app (backed up saves on a USB)

I should mention I have been playing the Sims franchise my entire life and I have been playing with origin and then EA on this account since 2013, so though I'm not the best at this kind of thing I kind of know what I'm doing this is just not working.

I would love some help as I've spent a lot of money on the Sims 3, and bought 2 things for it and wiped my computer just today, and it won't work and I've never had this problem on origin or anywhere else. Or in the past even. I'm feeling crazy lol, any help at all would be greatly appreciated

I think this is also my issue. How heartbreaking. Thank you for trying. Holding out for our // solution. I wonder when they'll update
