EA App: Sims 3 Create a World Edit in-game doesn't work

For some reason when I use edit mode to edit the world I'm editing in The Sims 3 Create a World Tool, the program doesn't launch the game correctly under EA Desktop. The game instead opens The Sims 3 launcher and when I use the launcher to start the game in this manner, The Sims 3 doesn't recognize that The Sims 3 is supposed to enter the edit mode for the Create a World Tool, instead launching the game normally. In addition, the game doesn't detect the closing of the game and doesn't reload properly to allow editing the roads and lots. Under Origin, the game skipped the Launcher to load the game in a special mode to edit the world, and would correctly detect when it is closed to switch back into the main mode of the tool. How do I fix this to work properly for EA Desktop? Will there be a fix for this in an EA Desktop update?

  • I've had this issue since the EA app launched (Create A World Tool worked fine, but Edit in Game did not), as of yesterday I got it up and running again. I posted how I solved the issues here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims3/s/MDecWzpGjb

Hope it helps some people, I have been so frustrated and heartbroken that EiG stopped working, especially since I just had gotten into making worlds and was really excited about it.

  • Hello,

I see lots of forums on this subj that are hit or miss and I am at a dead end. Is there a workaround for CAW to edit in game via the EA App? It goes to the sims 3 launcher but when I click play it opens the regular game to the menu and then crashes when I exit. This is very like an EA App issue but I am wondering if anyone has any workarounds?

ive moved the Sims Create a World around to various spots to try and prevent this from happening but no joy

As far as I can tell there's no current workaround, since they've done away with Origin.  And EA is never going to fix this.  They don't care that we can't play a game we spent hundreds of dollars on, because they already have our hundreds of dollars.
