Empty Alchemy Cabinet

I had two fully stocked alchemy cabinets not five minutes ago with lots of high end alchemy ingredients (rare gems, fish and insects). This took a long time to acquire and now it all seems it was for not. Can anyone tell me if this is supposed to happen? If so why would I bother to use an alchemy cabinet? My Sims inventory though painfully full never (to my knowledge) came up empty for no reason. I'd like my items back. If I don't get them I don't see a point in playing this game... The Sims 4 better not be so full of quirks like thisgame  has been. I don't understand why these known issues are left in the game while stuff packs and expansions seem to march out effortlessly.

    i bet it was the tall cabinet or alexanders one ? i had that happen to me too everything dissapeared gems potions insects etc  the only way i got them back was i had an earlier save of that game i was playing launched that one the items were still there and had my sim take everything out of the cabinets and place in his inventory then took the vast majority of them out of his inventory and placed them in the family inventory soooo hopefully you have an earlier save to go back to and get your stuff
