I've been trying to redownload Sims 3 for three days, and every time I try to, I get a pop-up saying "An unexpected error has occured. Please try again in a few moments. Error: 196620:0." I've allowed Origin through my firewall, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Origin three times, I've tried everything that the other topics have suggested, but it keeps popping up.
Is your origin updated ? What's your operating system ?
Yeah, I've got it updated to the latest version (I enabled beta like one of the other threads suggested). I'm running Windows 8. I've disabled the one program I had running that was known to cause problems with Origin.
Yes safe mode will work, however, it's awfully agrivating.. specially when I'd love the downloads to occur in the background when I can work on other stuff.
I'll add that this issue only appeared for me when I added a router between my PC and the Cable Modem.
I'd like EA to provide instructions to completely remove and reinstall Origin so that I don;t have to resort to Safe Mode.

Apprently if you're running a VPN client like Hola this issue occurs. Had the same problem and found the solution on Reddit.
