I have Windows 8 and I just recently installed sims 3. For the most part, everything started out fine but after i bought a home for a sim family and tried to move in, the game crashed. It continuously does this everytime i try to move in.

Did you try turning off antivirus and did we ever do a user folder factory reset yet (not sure but it's usually the first I suggest but since I took over from rum, I'm unsure if you tried that).
Other suggestion
- Turn down all your settings to the minium in options
- Resintall the game.

It's a bit different from reinstalling since it only generates new user data.
Ah, I'm out of ideas.
Did you try posting in at the official forum at thesims3.com ? Maybe someone there has another idea.
