Game Crashes when playing with mods

Hi, I seem to be having yet another problem. I've created the correct folders for my sims 3 mods (e.g. Overrides, and Packages) I'll insert pictures below. When I download mods I tend to put them in specific folders pertaining to what aspects of the game they change. For example if I have 'Nraas' mods I'll put them into the 'gamemods' folder and same goes for cas and build buy stuff. However with the mods placed into my package folder they tend to make my game crash when it gets to the loading screen?

Also it seems as if only specific things work in my game? As I currently have my Build/Buy folder in my game and it works perfectly fine? Except the same can't be said for my other mod folder directories? I thought it was due to outdated mods so I updated my Nraas mods only for it to still not work? If anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate them!!

Thanks!!

  • DreamiiMochi  It's a known issue with certain graphics settings; I believe it happens at times when Advanced Rendering is disabled.  If you want to enable it, make sure to also enable Object Hiding.  Both are check boxes on the graphics settings page.

Make the changes at the Main Menu, then quit to desktop before loading a save.

  • DreamiiMochi  To address your comment in your other thread, most mods are actually completely fine with patch 1.70.  That includes all NRaas mods with the exception of UntranslatedKey, which is for developers anyway.  If you have a question about a specific mod, feel free to ask, but in general, you can use anything you'd use on patch 1.67 or 1.69.

Core mods can throw an error when the game's internal build number doesn't match the mod, although this tends not to happen on patch 1.70.  But most Sims 3 mods are script or tuning mods and wouldn't be affected by the version as long as it's at least 1.66.

At any rate, one immediate issue here is the NRaas MasterController Progression add-on, which can crash the game if either the MC or StoryProgression base module isn't present.  MC Progression is meant to be a bridge between the two mods.

Additionally, if you don't own the Store bakery set, or it isn't loading, having NRaas Cupcake present will definitely crash the game on loading.

Ohh, Thank you so much!! It was definitely due to the fact that I didn't have story progression installed but I'll definitely be deleting NRaas Cupcake if causes game crashes. As recently my game tends to crash during gameplay, so that could be the reason why right?

  • DreamiiMochi  Both of the mod issues I listed crash the game at launch, so no, they shouldn't have anything to do with crashes in the run of play.  For those, I would strongly recommend installing NRaas ErrorTrap, which cleans up stale data and the first signs of corruption before they can break your save.

If you get more crashes, please note what was happening at the time: what your sims were doing, what sim-time of day it was, that kind of thing.

I also want to mention that in the Mac version, two known causes of an instant crash are having a sim use the Store rock wall, and trying to rotate an item in Buy mode that you select from the catalog without first placing it somewhere.  The latter isn't 100% reliable but is common enough to be worth avoiding.

  • Oh okie!! Thank you!! However I do have just one more question? Do you know what the reasoning behind this pink glitching on the houses is? (I'll insert some pictures below) but it just started happening when I loaded up my Hidden Valley save?

Thanks so much for all the help!!
