Game freezing after enrolling my sim in university

I am trying to enroll my sim in university, but as soon as it reaches the loading screen, the game just freezes completely, it loads a bit then it stops completely and wont progress any further, I have no idea how I am supposed to tackle this. Any help?

Please also let me know whether your computer runs Windows or macOS.

Yes, I had tried a new save and was still getting that same error, running on Windows

Otherwise, right-click DeviceConfig and select Properties > General, then look at the location.  Please list the full path you see.  You can write [username] instead of your actual username, but leave the rest intact.  Aside from OneDrive issues, having this data in another "wrong" location can cause the problem you're seeing right now.

Yes, the modified dates matches, i just opened the game to confirm and it refreshed to my current time, and it is in the documents- electronic-sims 3 folder, and no onedrive

    C:\Users\your username\OneDrive\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

But if it's not there, please try playing while your computer is offline.  You can sign into the EA App, if you use it, and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.  This is just a test; I'm not saying you have to play this way in general.

If that doesn't help, please try a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start another new save and see whether you can get the travel transition to work.

I do want to note that there are mods to help with this.  But if you can't even get through the first travel transition in an new save, there's probably something wrong past what a mod could fix.

No OneDrive along that path, Ill try the tips you provided, I had downloaded mods I had looked up prior to this and nothing changed, I was directed to Nraas mods, the traveler, overwatch and another one i believe, but still had the same problems

Tried this one and was able to actually load into the university world and it's running smoothly, is there something specific that causes this so i can avoid it in the future? And thanks a lot, that was annoying

  • lidn0m1krbgf  It could be a mod you were using, so repeat the test except with whatever non-NRaas mods you have.  (NRaas mods wouldn't do this.)  And feel free to list the mods here if you'd like an opinion on whether they're safe to use in general.  I don't know about every mod out there, but I may recognize one that's known to be broken or incompatible with other mods or with travel.

Once you've tested your mods, you can move your older save to the new folder and try again to travel.  I would absolutely use NRaas Traveler, along with ErrorTrap and Overwatch, any time you want to travel, and just in general to keep your save from corrupting.  Register is highly useful as well—it manages role and some service sims, and these can throw errors related to travel.  I'd add MasterController too for its ability to reset anything from a single item or sim to the entire world.  It does nothing unless you use it to issue a command, so it wouldn't otherwise affect gameplay.
