I just got a Nvidia Geforce 760 GTX put into my machine and i have been getting some crappy preformance from sims 3 and a pop up saying my graphics card isn't recognized. I looked in my device config file and saw it says found 0 matched 0. I looked up how to get the game to recognize my card but I cant figure out what changes need to be made to my sgr files.
it could just be the game is not programed well. It was always choppy since you got the 760 card? This game is funny. You could have a med level computer like my old one and the game will be ok and then you have a high end computer that can't play it. I think the game just has a mind of it's own.
That's Excatly what happend!! I had an old machine with a intel core 2 duo 3.0 GHz, 8 GB RAM, and Nvidia 450 GTS and it ran really well. My new machine with an I7-4770k 3.5, 8GB of RAM, and a 760 Ti wont run well at all. It did for a bit, but it won't run well anymore.
I can believe it, my old computer quad, with 8gb dual AMD cards. fps never went over 40. no heating issues. Just had save issues as my files got bigger and that was only because I did not relize I had origin running hoging all my ram. After your story of your 760 not working I hope it does not do this to my 770 card. I did a test, went in edit town and if I went left or right with edge scrolling it did studder a little but not bad. Then again I only have the base game in and have not added ep's yet
When memory express tested my computer they tested sims 3 with just the base game and they didnt have any issues. Apparently adding EPs makes the game unstable as it makes more lags and studders.
EA did tell me that not only do you need more ram as you add more ep's and with the newer eps you also need virtual memory. Some people say this whole game incuding EP's only takes of 4GB ram but EA even told me no way could this whole game run on 4GB ram. When people run tests I think it's only registering the base game and not the ep's

Our system requirements ask for 1.5 gigabyte RAM if you play on Windows 7 and usually that is enough. Sims 3 as a 32-bit game cannot use more than 4 GB RAM anyway. Normally it won't need more than 1.5 GB though - this is my game with all expansions, stuff packs, and lots of store content:
If you run a lot of programs in addition to the game then more RAM generally helps, but it can also help to just shut the additional programs down. Often it helps to close e.g. your browser, especially if you have a lot of tabs open. Just open your task manager, go to the "Processes" tab and sort all processes by "Memory" and you will see what is heavy on your RAM.
