@SimPlumbobGreen You should be able to go to the chip manufacturers site and download a previous driver. this is called rolling back the driver. Please post your the video chip but the computer's dxdiag would be more helpful.

@roberta591 Can I have the older graphics driver and the newer one simultaneously, because the newer graphics driver was kind of needed to help games run better like GTA V.

@SimPlumbobGreen No - only one driver can be installed at a time. I have the same problem as I have a library of dos games and I drag out an old (and I mean pre windows) computer. I have a plethora of computers (one may even be older then Bill Gates).
add: Sims 3 never really ran good on high end video cards. Does the game recognize the Nvidia 860? I'm guessing not. You may need to modify the config files to make the game config for the 860. Here is a link to the one I just used - TS3 graphics card issue. This does work as I just upgraded to a Nvidia GTX 960 so I know this works.
Gates was born 1955 so he's older then the computer.

@roberta591 I believe we've talked before lol. I recently rolled back my driver and all is well! It's a shame though that in order to play the game somewhat smoothly I'll have to use an outdated graphics driver. One from like 2014. My game for the most part is smooth, but are there any tips for making it even smoother? I feel like the game should be smoother for me, and that my GPU is under performing. And yes, I've already added my 860 to the graphics cards for The Sims 3.
