Have Sims 3 base game (not starter pack) can I buy other expansions?

I bought Sims 3 like 6 years ago, just the base game. I am wanting to start playing it again and started looking at the expansions on Origin.

Every expansion states I need to have the Sims 3 Starter Pack to play. 

Since I do have the base game but don't have Late Night or High-End Loft, will I be able to buy them and use them?

In other words: I am concerned that Origin will see I don't have the starter pack and therefore, assume I don't have the base game to use it.

    @cmirabien  The Starter Pack requirement is only because that's what Origin sells these days, not the standalone base game.  You don't need the Starter Pack, or the packs it includes, to buy more packs or play them, or at least you shouldn't.  So yes, you can buy other packs without worrying about it.

    If you do run into any trouble, please report it, since that's not how Origin is supposed to work.

    Is the base game the same as the starter pack? I can't download the base game, it only says 'starter pack'

    @Andulyn  The Starter Pack includes the base game, Late Night, and High-End Loft Stuff.  I think if you do download the Starter Pack, you actually just start the base game download and then have to download all packs separately, although I've never tried that exactly.  (That's how it works if you own both packs separately, at least.)

    Either way, downloading the Starter Pack is fine, and if you don't want to play with the two other packs yet but they install anyway, just uncheck them in the launcher's Expansions & Stuff tab, and they won't load when you launch the game.
