Having Trouble Getting The Sims 3 to work

If the Sims 3 launcher won't open at all, please manually install DirectX 9, as described here:

Hopefully the answers are in there somewhere for you.

Nothing worked but luckily I still have my old computer in my closet at the minute and it ran sims 3 fine. I might just have to use it for a gaming laptop just for sims.
