Help: Boarding School Delayed

Household teen's ride taking forever to pick her up. She's enrolled since a day or two ago, its now Friday and the time is 10.49 am. Her school career panel says "Enrolled in Boarding School".

In the past, my teens have been picked up by a taxi by about 9 am. I'm not even so sure that the call was made the day before, but possibly the day before that. She has 10 days of her teen age left, plenty to go to boarding school.

What's going on? Is she stuck? Is the taxi stuck? Workpools have been turning up, there's nothing wrong with the car space. Should I find the save where the call was made and redo from there?

Thanks.

  • Have you tried to reset your teen sim.

I dont know if it helps, but give it a go..

    Happy gaming. 🤘

  • DivinylsFan  If the reset doesn't work (and I'd use a MasterController Reset), then you might need to revert to the older save.  But one other thing you can try is to use MasterController to change the school assignment back and forth.

NRaas > MC > Intermediate > Career > Choose School > [local school]
NRaas > MC > Intermediate > Career > Remove Quit Careers > [boarding school, if it's listed]
save as + rename the save/quit/delete cache files/reload

You could then either enroll the kid the normal way again or use MC to assign the boarding school.  The Remove Quit Careers option is only available if you have the MC Cheats add-on installed as well.

Thanks for replying. I've been checking back often but for some reason this reply didn't show up on my notices.

Anyway, I've gone back to an older save from earlier in the week. It will mean a baby in the household will be reborn, possibly differently - I don't know how early they're wired to be born a certain way.

I think my problem is the overcrowded local school. I've posted a picture before about how many kids turn up, in Sunset Valley, and they're only 1st generation ... each residential household has had at least 3 or 4 kids each while I relaxed the Nraas story progression for a short while.

I would ideally like to also send most of those kids to boarding school. I tried it using Master Controller once before, with the

NRaas > MC > Intermediate > Career > Choose School > [boarding school name] ... sending 10 to each of the different boarding schools.

The next day it did seem they were absent. Clicking on the local school and checking the status showed all of them were there, possibly in the building, but I had not monitored or watched the arrivals to know if they physically went there or were just being listed. And then it seemed after a couple of days they were all back to jamming the doors and roadways during drop-off/start hour.

Am I needing a module with Master Controller to send non-active household kids to boarding school? You mentioned MC Cheats. There is also a Careers mod but from what I've read in its description on Nraas, that is for adding custom careers, and doesn't say anything about using it for coordinating schools.

I've also thought about adding a second school to divert some of the kid traffic, which I've done once before a long time ago but I remember it didn't look nice and going to prom was weird, can't remember why.

I will be micro-managing the second and third generation non-active households to reduce the population, but for now my own sims are utilising boarding school after going to one prom, one promotion, and some skills, as a teen. Maybe they can go as a kid too to avoid some of the chaos.

I mean, far out, a car ended up poking out of the main doors of the school.

I'll see if this earlier save goes better.

Otherwise ... I'll have to start a new game. Which would be a shame, I like the house, and family.

  • DivinylsFan  I answered most of this in your other thread about MC resets before I saw this one.

I don't know whether inactive sims can actually attend boarding school, as in, they're off the map rather than going to the local school.  I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work.  But the private schools from SP Career are an option, as is a second school with you manually assigning sims to it.

Prom is never going to work with multiple schools, at least not in the sense that sims from a certain school only attend prom held there.  But that's just one day, or if it's more often than you'd like, you can use SP (with the Career add-on) to increase the cooldown or decrease the chance per day.

That also means you can dictate which day prom is held by setting the chance to 100%, choosing only one day of the week as valid, and increasing the cooldown since the last one to block it from happening before you want it to.  For example, if the last prom was Friday and it's now Saturday, and you want the next prom to happen in 14 days, you could set the cooldown to anywhere from 9 to 14 days (not sure if it's inclusive or not), and Saturday as the only valid day, and 100% chance of it happening, so it would absolutely happen on the Saturday you've selected and not before.
