Explanation: Hello! Sorry to hear about the issue, but you must be informed that owning a physical copy of the game and a digital one are two separate payments. What do I mean, you might ask? Well, owning the disk doesn't give you the access to download it, and owning the download doesn't allow you access to a free physical copy.
In other words: If you want a digital download, you must pay for the downloadable version. You can purchase it here: https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/buy/sims-3-ANW.html
Note: It's currently on sale, so I suggest purchasing it now rather than later.

@Computerguy1232, that's not actually true. A physical copy can be "converted" into a download copy.
@ulzzangnekoty, if you register your game on your Origin account ( please note that you and your cousin cannot both have the game registered), you can then find the game on Origin, in your My Games. If Origin is installed on your PC, you can then download it and play with the download version.
You will only need to have the download version of your most latest (newly released) game - as you only need the most recent game disk to play - well, following that principle.
