Help! Sims keep resetting after I try having them interact with other sims??

I just bought the University Life expansion pack a few days ago. It's awesome. Except both of the sims I have at the university can't interact with other sims. The options to interact are still present, but as soon as they start getting ready to talk to the other sim, they reset. They still go to classes and can use computers and other objects, but other sims and their cell phones seem to be off limits.

I really don't want to delete this game and start over, or take my sims from university, because I've been playing this family for a really long time! Can anyone help? I don't have any mods or extra content downloaded - just my games. And it is patched and updated to the latest version.

    try the reset all sims cheat

    ctrl+shift+c hold all 3 together in the menu bar that appears at the top of the screen type in resetsim * (inculding the * hit enter ) this will reset all sims inculdeing your own make sure your own aren't doing anything important cancel their acton q

    then if they can interact save the game with save as give the save  a new name then save and quit clear the cache files

    to delete the cach files go to electronic arts/the sims 3/


    •CasPartCache.package
    •compositorCache.package
    •scriptCache.package
    •simCompositorCache.package
    •socialCache.package.package

    it's safe to delete these files as a new ones will regenerate
