Household stuck, green icons, resetting won't work

Good day everyone,

unfortunately, my game became bugged. I saved it yesterday while everything was normal. When I turned on the game today, the Sim Panel on the left was gone, the active Sim had become stuck, the household was shown as having 0 funds and nothing could be interacted with (also nothing in the town etc.).

I have no mods or custom content installed.

I have tried the following things:

  • Resetsims *     - Nothing happens
  • Evicting the household, moving into a different lot - This brings back the Sim panel etc, and one Sim of the household is "normal", but the rest of the icons are blank greens. Using resetsim at this point also didn't help.
  • Restoring the save game from the .backup folder - The backup game seems to be bugged in an almost identical way. 
  • Installing Nraas and using Mastercontroller to reset all Sims of the household - I'm not sure whether I did this the right way, but resetting the Sims didn't work. 

Does anyone have any more ideas what I could try? I REALLY hope I don't have to start over ☹️

    @caelity  If you start a new game does the problem still exist. Try the factory reset - link - sims 3 factory reset  This will tell you if the user data is causing the problem or if the game core files are corrupt.

    @roberta591 thanks for the reply. New games I start don't get the bug (at least not directly upon choosing the household). I tried the factory reset link as well. Even in a new game folder with only the offending save-game imported, the bug is still there.

    @caelity  If the new games do not get the bug this is an indication the the save game is corrupt and the game core is basically sound. Did you try to load a previous save of that game? Here is a link to recover previous saves - how to recover previous save  Corrupt saves seem to affect certain computers and this may be because of low storage space on the system device or some other operating system issue. Once a save becomes corrupt there is no way I now of to save it.
